How Slow is Slow?Follow

At the risk of starting another average damage vs weapon speed argument, I have a couple of questions.

For a mutilate build I keep hearing that we need a slow dagger (and I understand that this really means the highest damage dagger available,) but as a general rule how slow is slow? Is 1.8 slow for a dagger?

Second question. I am currently combat swords. I know that a fast OH is required for poison and combat potency procs. I have the choice between a 1.8 sword with about 57 dps, or a 1.4 dagger with about 50 dps. I am grinding to get honor for the s2 MH and OH when s4 starts, so I'll have a fast sword then. Until then, which is the better choice?

EDIT: I am level 69 now, and haven't upgraded my OH in a while, its a green quest reward. I should hit 70 this week.

Both of those weapons are fast for their respective weapon types.

2.8-2.4 is the ideal speed for MH swords, maces, and fists.

1.8-1.6 is the ideal speed for MH daggers, and OH daggers for mutilate. 1.5-1.4 is acceptable, but not as good.

This is just a guess, but out of those two I'd take the sword,
because the combination of sword spec (assuming you have decent
main hand sword) and +5 dps (~+7*0.75) is probably more than
what you would get from the more rapid poison
and combat potency procs with the dagger.

You get decent off-hand sword from the quest Gorgrom the dragon-eater
(BEM), but it is part of a chain so you may not want to bother
with that at this point. The quest line is definately
soloable for a 69 rogue if you feel like it and not too long.

Another off-hand sword one you can get from "Declawing doomclaw", a
part of quest series that starts in Eco-Dome Midrealm. Also soloable
for you, I believe. Even shorter quest-line up to this reward, but
probably a bit tougher than the previous one.

Hope this helps

Although it has been debated a lot whether it was not preferable to have a faster OH for a muti build. Slow OH (1.8 ideally) gives you harder hitting Muti with your OH. Fast OH (1.3 ideally if my memory serves me well) gives you faster poison procs, cheaper shivs.

My conclusion to the many threads I've read on that is that both a probably equally good at the end of the day. And to tell you the truth, I've just purchased a sunwell OH dagger and took the faster one, so that I can use it as a better OH weapon if I go back to ShS.

That's a good use of badges, but TBH the Mutilator is a better DPS upgrade.

Generally though, you're not going to be playing mut for PvE, so it doesn't matter.
