Abused the Rating System...Follow

#1 May 19 2008 at 9:32 PM Rating: Excellent
Without meaning to.

I was at 1814 with my priest partner. Decided to include a Druid in the mix.

1814 + 1814 + 1500 /3 = 1709.

Fighting 10 points team for easy win?

Yup yup.

10 games later, team is at 1933, the druid's personal rating is at 1722, so still 211 points short of the team's rating... meaning we should be able to hit 2k in 7 more games, fighting team that give us 9-11 points.

GG Rating system, GG.

I may have to try this with my 5v5 team tomorrow, considering 3 of the players have shoulders.

Too bad I don't have the points to get shoulders next week.

Meh, it kinda takes the fun away from it.

I'm going to hit 2k without ever having fought any 1900-2k teams.

No real point to brag about it.

And again, it's not like I did this on purpose. I just didn't want to reform the team... we were expecting to get 2-3 points per games until he caught up, not 10-11...

Same kind of thing almost happened to our 5v5 team, but instead of only playing lower rated teams, we ended up playing 3 games out of 11 against a 2020 rated team from Korgath.

yeah, flawed doesnt begin to describe how the PR rating system works. as much as it would suck from a "i like to play with my friends" perspective, i honestly wish theyd just added a cooldown on switching teams. make it one week long and ditch all this PR crap that looks like it should work but really as more holes than good swiss cheese.

pugged a guy "just for the points" and went 5-5 in 2v2

lost 55 rating

>< kinda sucks but i didnt really care, i wss barely above 1700.... i gave up after stalling 1830 for so long a few months back

PR is good for stopping point selling sometimes.... but grr i dunno, ***** just flawed as hell

im sure theres a better solution for the whole thing

So ironically, it didn't work.

We lost a few games on our way, which made the TR drops by a huge amount, but didn't lower the druid's pr much... which made him catch up quick.

We ended up at 1920-ish with him in the 150 range. We failed to break 2k on our first week, but manage to snag it yesterday night.

I finally have my shoulders. :)

Grats Tyr.

And yeah, it doesn't work as well as originally thought.

Unless everyone on your team is pro and you're playing a pro comp.

I have one of those, but not the second.

Maybe you should stop posting and become pro then?

Losing my partners several time this season was a huge setback >_>.

Kinda expecting things to be smoother in S4.

The best partner I ever had was a Retadin I broke 1800 with as Mage/Paladin. Never got weapon, though, we (he, mainly, although he's 5/5 with wep now) lacked gear at the time.

If only my Rogue was in a position to exploit this.

Something is SERIOUSLY screwed up with the arenas. In 3v3 we faced up against a full s3 (shoulders included) 3 dps team (destro lock, pom pyro mage and ele shammy) EIGHT times. EIGHT FAPPING times. Then in 2v2 we faced a bunch of ~1450 rated teams with lots of s3 but very bad comps (while we are ~1600). Once we break 1650 we were suddenly matched every time with teams that could beat us with ease (our gear isn't bad, i'm at 356 resi and my druid partner 300) but we were crushed.

Please tell me you aren't playing a rogue :S

I hate it when people spam trade saying, LF Rouge for arena team, 35o resi+.

In arena I use less than that!

BTW, a lot of teams will be re-rolling for their main rated teams, since their high rated teams most likely have alts sitting in them atm, and they would have 1500 personal rating...

Lol. Yes, I am a rogue, but we have been together since i was in the low 200s resi-wise. We're buddies in RL so we don't really care as long as we have fun and get a decent rating.

I think he was referring to your using that much resilience, not your comp or the druid's resilience. It's much more effective for rogues to wear less resilience and more damage stats inside of arena. You're not there for survival, you're there to do damage and to do it fast. 200-300 resilience with higher damage stats is preferable, I'd say.

Kinda depends on your PvE sitation, TBH.

Until you're in T6 to the point where you can have off-set pieces gemmed for AP, it's really not worth it to use PvE gear over S3.

Noted. I honestly just got into arena very recently because of a rogue friend of mine who transferred back onto my server. He is, incidentally, working T6 content and is fully S3 geared, so I suppose this is where my view came from, along with the rogue forums. Thank you though, I'll keep that in mind. My experience on my warrior was mostly in raid tanking prior to becoming addicted to PvP. I've just started leveling a rogue and have him in the 50s, and I'll remember that when I get him to 70 and start BGing and doing arena with him.

hanyone read the O-boards abiut all the teams getting entire S3 taken away from them for win trading. I know what the OP is doing isnt win trading, but i thought its kinda intopic thought id drop it in.

My guild on Kul tiras had a win trading team in it, they would brag about all the points/TR/PR they are getting, and i bet now they are naked spamming bg's for some S1
