Well, to be fair, I don't think everyone suggested that, but shadow is a good leveling spec.

Your right Miskreant I was being way to general with that staement. As for embracing the shadow, never! May the light devour the darkness. =P. LOL and thats coming from an undead. Seems somewhat silly when I really think about it.

You say you're having trouble finding groups, but do you have maybe 1 or 2 people you could level with?
I started a Disc priest with my husband (who rolled a warrior), we play together and are unstoppable (well, almost). Orange, and even many red quests, are quite doable for the two of us. Bonus--when we do go instancing, we at least know we have a good reliable tank and healer!

Not sure if that's doable for you, but I thought I'd throw it out there. Best of luck!

See how the shadows already manifest in your mind?

I understand the frustration of quest completion in that range. I have a priest and a hunter that I've been leveling almost side by side. I found the hunter is able to complete quests at or above level far easier than the priest. Certain quests were downright impossible for the priest to do alone (the giant on the shore in Stranglethorn, for example.)

I found that I had to be selective on quests for the priest. If I came across a quest that I could not complete, I skipped it and went to the next. I did not abandon quest (something of the completionist in my blood =0 ), but I did not bang my head against the wall trying to do it right then (that giant died a miserable death about 5 levels later!) If the zone you are in does not have any easier quests, change zones for a few levels and come back. I suggest doing quests 2-3 levels lower than the toon for the priest, just to stay ahead of the curve.

As far as gear goes, I was taking everything that built up intellect, but neglected to boost spirit as well. It was around level 30 that I realized that having a lot of mana is good, but regenerating mana fast was just as important.

BTW, I had a hybrid build through those levels, but I remember that after getting Spirit Tap (I know it is Shadow!), the grinding time and mana breaks dropped substantially. If you're toon is dead set against Shadow, no worries, but a little Shadow never hurt anyone. =)

I leveled Sana from 1-70 as full holy and found it very easy to solo. Throw on a renew, throw up PW: Shield, hit them with Holy Fire (3 sec), hit them with star shards (instant), hit them with SW: Pain (instant), Hit them with Mind Blast, Hit them with smite, by then weakened soul is just ending so throw up another bubble and wand them down for the remaining 25-30% of life they have left. If you do this you will not get damaged at all. They should be dead before your dots are even finished. If you have a few points in spirit tap then you can go through this 6-7 times before stopping for mana. Also, I found that i could take on 2-3 mobs using this same rotation so long as none are elite. If you run out of mana while doing so go into mana conserve and just bubble and wand them to death. Takes a while, but you should get through ok as long as your MP5 isn't too low.

Definitely would be nice to know why you don't want to go shadow. I was of the mindset that shadow couldn't heal too well so i stayed holy for the first 30 levels. Once I got into mid 30's I noticed I was having a lot of downtime. I changed to shadow and was killing a lot faster. First instance I did was SM and I healed no problem. My party didn't know til the end that I was actually shadow spec. I have actually gotten quite a bit of whispers after dungeons telling me that I healed very well for a shadow priest.

If you are deadset on not going shadow then I think you should play another class, get the feel for the game as something different... Maybe priest is just not you. My first toon is still a lvl 41 warlock and he has been that way since before Molten Core (however long that was). Now I have 2 lvl 70 toons and a few 30-60... Fact is that some classes are just not fit for people's playing styles which is why they have classes... Try a few other classes out then go back to the priest after and see what happens... No sense wasting time playing something you don't enjoy.

Definetly, aye. You need the right gear and you'll have to work out cast cycles, but like pretty much every class; yes, they are wanted.

Nice to hear shadow works for you; it never has for me... I play holy mainly for the same reason I play daggers on my rogue. Shadow just isn't my thing. Levelled one priest from 1 to 60 in holy (and later to 64 where he's now stuck at), and my second priest is closing in on 65 right now; all holy too.
