I just got done soloing a mob that was 5 lvls above me. The quest was to kill a mid 30s mob. It was a later quest in a series.

I walked into the room - got jumped by a melee and a caster. I killed the melee first (cause the caster was near mobs that would agro).

I moved onto the caster.

I attacked and was agroed quickly. I healed, and downed the Caster. Killed the add,

Then my "Boss" the target spawned. It agro'd me and I knew it was all over. But then - after 3 minutes of healing, damage, healing, damage - I WON!

Wow - this is so much better than Mage!

I too, love my paladin. It was the first character I made, and the first one I got to level 70.
Although, I leveled up as holy and I was clueless about pretty much everything in the game so I really couldn't solo mobs that were higher level than me... but still in some wicked, twisted way, I had a good time playing it.
I almost never logged out at an Inn, so I hardly had any rested exp.
At around level 30, when I was in Arathi Highlands (ages ago!) I had a goal to get certain amount of exp per day.. guess what I did to achieve that goal? Grinded those damn raptors around Refuge pointe, didn't even do any quests.

Anyways, good to hear that you're having a good time with your paladin- having a good time= win.

The fun never really ends, you will continue to surprise yourself with the things you prove that you're capable of doing.

I was on my way to Gruul's when I spotted a Khorium vein just north of Shatt, so I quickly flew down to mine it. I hit it twice and attempted to re-mount, when a Gordunni Soulreaper, a level 71 elite, came around the corner and shadowbolted me.

Vaguely recalling my unsuccessful tangle with Durn the Hungerer last weekend, I tried to remember where the closest graveyard to the Barrier Hills might be and whether this ogre would still be hovering over my corpse when I came back.

Unfortunately for him, my stubbornness flared up violently. I dug my heals in, and began spamming flash of light on myself, intermingled with consecration, with a Hammer of Justice whenever the ogre's hands turned purple, also trying to keep all five ticks of Seal of Vengeance whenever I could. At one point, too many skellies had piled up for me to survive much longer, so I bubbled and Holy Wrath'ed the lot of them. It came down to the wire, I had about 300 hp and no mana and the ogre was not doing much better. I finally gave in, popped Lay on Hands on myself and threw one last Hammer of Wrath to down him.

The stingy fellow had a whopping 12 silver on him. The real reward of course was anyone flying north out of Shatt would have seen the small mountain of skellie corpses lying at my triumphant feet.

Someday soon, Durn's going to take a little trip to the back of the woodshed, I guarantee.

You'll survive almost impossible odds as a Paladin, that's for sure!

Of course, no says that it makes battles fast :-P

My Paladin classes have always been fun. From soloing the deadmines almost three years ago at level 30, to being a porcupine at level 60, to fighting off world PvP twink rogues on Anetheron, to trying the "new" (for me) Retribution styles in TBC on my Belfadin, Paladins have never ceased to amaze me in how much they can survive.

But again, the pace of killing is pretty darn tame compared to a Mage :)

I always loved what paladins could do, I did better Pre-TBC in terms of Surviving, but I still like the fact that I have become good enough at my class to take someone a season above me down.
