Shockadin?Follow

Hey guys, I play a mage myself, and watched some PvP-vids recently, where paladins used the 40/0/21 specc for holy damge, and holy shock crits.

Ofc I know that ppl tend to put only the best scenes, with the best crits and lucky situations in their movies, but the damage I saw was pretty decent after all, maybe compareable with 17/0/44 frostmage (just the burst that is).

I do realise, that due to the CDs on judgement and holy shock there is always some time between the bigger attacks, while the pally can only dps with consecration and the seal of righteousness. So in theory Mage is more DPS, but when I see how often I just hop around, spamming instant casts, an trying not to get hit, there is not too much of a DPS-difference, while the paladin is also deep in his holy tree, and can heal freaking much, buff BOF, and bubble, while going on with DPS or heal himself and his allies up. Lay on hands is also something. Don't they make pretty decent overall-dps, with the option of serious support also?

So I was wondering, why I don't see any shockadins in the better arena teams, or even much at all. Does the specc have downsides I cannot yet see?

It is pretty terribad tbh.

Holy Shock has a 15 second cool down, and a lot of those big hits you see involve spell trinkets being popped. Judgement has 8 second cool down. Mana inefficient, lacking certain healing stuff etc.

So you are a poor mans PoM/Pyro mage, only poorer than poor. I am sure warriors, classes with low stam and no PvP gear etc can be decimated but when it comes to any real level of content with a even a smidgen of gear and frankly its hella bad. I dueled one the other day, just used my PvE gear since I am not to worried about crit and it was just plain sad.
