An odd Trend i've noticedFollow

So, this was brought up to me by a fellow Paladin and we discussed it without any clear conclusion.

Why is that we are seeing high end raid Tankadins gearing much like a MT Prot Wars? I've seen them with almost no sp.dmg and lots of +melee hit and what not. What gives? Is our threat not generated through out holy damage via Concecration and AV and HS? (thats rhetorical, im a raid tankadin, i know those answers =p )

Im just curious as to why this has been going on? It cant be just a bad gear/talent build.. they are end game raid tanks.. Any input?

Thank you

Well with a top end caster mace, with enchanting, you've got almost 300 spelldamage in one go, add in wizard oil, flasks, food and you've got 400-450 SD without having any on your armour, so you don't need to stack that much, the extra stamina/avoidance of warrior gear outweighs the extra threat from pally gear.

There's a ton of late-game gear that throws spell damage at us. The problem with scooping it all up though is, you won't actually survive very long with it. As far as itemization goes, Spell Damage is very expensive as opposed to other stats. If Item A offers Spell Damage and Item B offers a comparable amount of Block Value (Warrior threat) -- Item B will have more budget available for other stats. Warriors also get more out of Expertise and Hit (though we certainly take advantage of them too) giving them lots of options for threat. We primarily use one VERY expensive stat.

It means we have to use "Tank Gear" that is of more benefit to Warriors at times. I remember one poster saying his guild wouldn't let him roll on an Aldori Legacy Defender because it was a "Warrior shield" -- Tank Gear is Tank Gear. Warriors get more out of some, we get more out of others. It doesn't mean there's no overlap.

You know.. if i actually thought about it i probably should have come to that conclusion. It totally makes sense and thank you for answering nicely =). It was just an oddity to me that once just put into words in front of my face makes complete sense now. ha.

Again thanks
