Do I need ranged talents for VashjFollow

I'm cookie cutter BM right now, and I'm quite happy being it. However I remember last time I was in a guild that killed Vash, our hunter said he needed to take ranged increasing talents to be able to hit the spore bats. Is this true? If so, I have 3 options..

BM with reduced lethal shots (to 2 points) to pick up the 3 ranged talents

Is it true and which of the above would be the best for me?

I too can hit the bats just fine without any range adjusting talents. Might make them be in range of you longer, but you can still drop them.

At the starts its very helpful to knock down a few bats, but you have to stop after a bit because you cant keep up anyway and you're better off killing Vashj.
