Is it worth the ritual?

Or even worth throwing CoD on NPCs in a BG with hopes of a spawn?

I don't think I've ever seen one, so I'm assuming they're somehow inefficient.

they're there for the comedic value. if the enslave spell lasted 30minutes and without diminishing returns then the doomguard would actually be the best pet we can have. it's actually very powerful with some amazing abilities.

Saw this thread, and as I was going to actually ask this same thing, saved me from a totally new post: just to be clear, Doomguard really has no use as is? I mean, if you get one on a CoD then ok, but the summon itself? I've seen one person since TBC came out summon a Doomguard, and it was at the start of an AV.

Also Inferal: anyone use this summon anymore? If so, it's very sad to have 2 awesome looking pets with minimal to no real use at 70.

it used to have a purpose back when the soulwell had the same animation... it was there to kill a team-mate in pvp / raids :D lol. it does still work though now everyone clicks just for the amusing russian rullete idea of it ^^ lol

Tonight I think I might go into AB and run straight to BS, drop an Infernal and hide. Over and over. Assuming I still have my Demonic Runes...

To make the doomguard and infernal more useful or likely to be used, they could change them a bit... make them require more mats to summon them and, with the doomguard, nobody dies. However, make so they are "enslaved", so to speak, to begin with. After X amount of time, have them just vanish/unsummon. If they were like this, I'd use them.

Or even better...

With this upcoming expansion, add a demonology skill that allows us to have a permanent control over the doomguard, as if it was just another summon, like felguard, succubus, etc. It could be something like a more advanced enslave demon that lasts forever.

Is the fear that solidifying a Doomguard in our ******* would make us overpowered?

If so, maybe put a condition on having a Doomguard out - "While summoned the warlock cannot cast X or Y."

I should have explained my post more...

I'm suggesting that when we cast for an infernal or doomguard, they require those stones, right? How about adding to the required mats, but having it something that can't be bought from an NPC (other than maybe the AH). So in order to summon them, you'd need to find the other mat from farming them.

Personally, I've never seen a doomguard, other than a mob version. I've never seen one summoned, to know what power they have.

However, if the doomguard or a more powerful enslave demon talent were to be added with the next expansion, I'm sure Blizzard could find a way to balance the other classes.

i had the awesome experience of having my CoDoom summon a doomguard from the final boss in heroicMech. He just goes down, everyone says good job and a doomguard jumps up and starts pummeling me. of course he resists my enslave and it takes a few seconds before everyone realizes what happened and kills it. very funny

Ha ha. I once a doomguard summon from CoD on the demon boss in shadow labs. My first thought was "wtf? did he spawn an add?"

I still use the infernal occasionally in battlegrounds. It's fun to break out during a really bad battleground and just have some fun with it.

The couple of times I've gotten a doomguard from CoD, it always leaves me scratching my head and thinking "why did they even bother with this?" The thing loves to break control, and is more of a pain in the backside than anything else. I really wish they would eventually alter this to be a more useful spell. Maybe then I'd quest for the true summon doomguard spell rather than use CoD.

Opt
