My warlock's 2v2 partner is a hunter and we, well, we stink at the moment. Not sure if it's the classes or because we both just started doing arenas, but we've had some really short battles hehe. After 2 weeks we're below 1400.

I also have another hunter that just dinged 70 and I was thinking of bringing him into the team so that we would have 2 hunters. It just seems like it would be fun. We're not doing it to be the bracket leaders or anything, but we don't want to suck. Do you think warlock/hunter would be better than hunter/hunter? Thoughts? Thanks!

hunter x2 would be mean as 2x BM to burst down stuff.
The problem is that after 18 seconds of BW if you're not in a 2v1 (or 1 v 50%hp) situation you're *******

The ideal (and only competitive) partners for a hunter in 2v2 are discpriest and resto druid.
Both survive really well, disc priests can help drain your opponents and druids can help dps as well as cc better than priests.

For 3v3 just about the only serious option we have is getting a lock and discpriest for a drain your opponents in slow 10+ minute matches team.

Although I'm NOT an arena expert, I can tell, that actuall WINNING with hunt/hunt combo in 2v2 can happen around 1300 rating, higher on, it is completely impossible ;)
(and no, 3xhunt in 3v3 is NOT an option, either - I tested them both ;) )

I got a 2vs2 hunter/hunter arena team IM sv other is BM we run with a rating around 1470 not to good but not to bad we usually end a week slightly more wins then losses. Im all in S1 and the BM has 3 s1 pieces and some random epics/blues and do decent.

What I'm suggesting is that there are too many variables to spout a declarative "Hunters suck in arena". I'd buy it if there were NO hunters on the highest end teams. What the participation stat says to me is that it is HARD to be a good hunter in PvP. That's my interpretation. If you say that means we are bad, whatever, we'll have to agree to disagree. I just look at it as untapped potential.

We are only easy to kill if we have crappy gear, as with ANY class. As my gear has gotten better, I can hang in there much longer. Gear means more than class, and skill is even better.

You guys can carp all you like. I don't need parity in numbers or to be the 'chosen' class for arena or to be the last class standing. I enjoy being a hunter in arena, it's really challenging and fun. If you don't like it, fine, don't do it.

Maybe there is a balance in us being the easiest class to level and the hardest to master...

The number 2 arena team in the world is two hunters (2v2), so you cant say its impossible.

There is 1 hunter in the top 100 personal ratings (2v2+3v3+5v5).
At nr 87 even.

Does that say enough?

(not that shamans and paladins are much better off....)

Montaghar, the 2s with two hunters is a pair of win traders. Look at it more closely before you talk.

I feel great about my pvp performance. I think a lot of it deals with knowledge of the other classes. Like, if you're whailing on a pally and you got him down to half hp, you should be looking for 2 things: 1) A heal from him you can interrupt. 2)The next person you're going to attack when the pally bubbles. Little things like this can affect the outcome of arenas a lot. You gotta know the right times to use Scatter shot, you gotta know when to use Frost traps and not Freezing traps, and you have to be lightning fast with your Silence shot.

I've been playing hunter since WoW came out, I've leveled 2 because I quit first one and started one with RL friends. Point is, all of your pvp instincts comes with time and get to know all of the other classes well. Their cooldowns, what exactly their abilities do, etc. Helps a ton.

All the above would be great, Sloshot, if you had a decent Arena rating and could be thumbing your nose at the poor fools who just never managed to figure out how to play their class in the Arena.

But instead you are tied for last place on your team, and are well below 1500. I am not pointing at that and saying that you personally suck or anything, I'm just saying that you don't seem to have much experience doing any winning as a Hunter in the Arena, and so to post contrary arguments doesn't give you much credibility beyond the ability of anyone on the Internet to post speculative and unsupported opinions.

I also am on not one but three sub-1500 teams. As I have said before, I play Arena only with RL friends, and many of them are not raiders and so don't have the T5/BoJ gear I have to augment my PvP set. So we have no illusions that we'll be anything other than "charity epic" farmers, so far as Arena is concerned. And that's fine for us. Arena gear gives the non-raiders some purples, which are upgrades to their casual PvE gear, and it has let me build a PvP gear set which serves me well in BGs, and one piece (S3 helm) which I wear for PvE. And we have a lot of fun together. But running weekly Arena for all of S3 has shown me the mechanical difficulties associated with playing a Hunter in the Arena, LoS, shoot and move, limited room to kite or avoid melee range, etc. I think that gives me the latitude to say with confidence that Hunters are always going to be poor performers in the Arena unless something changes.

Just for the record, I'm not saying hunters cant win or that we cant have fun...
I personally play with a holy pally and we do decent in the 1400's while we're having fun.

However, I also admit that in arena hunters are terribly broken.
