Almost 34 and been thinking of going reckoning spec instead of retadin(no offense to ret spec pallies, hell, one of em even tanked some of kara a lil while ago in my guild), but, reckoning just seems too fun to pass up. What would be a good lvl 34 spec for it? And then on.

35-40 is a good time to spec Prot.

With Reckoning and Holy Shield you can level on par with Ret. Only issues is when you get into Hellfire and there are a lot of caster type mobs but "meh".

I love Reckoning. That thing is a leveling engine.

The main tactic to remember with Reckoning is: ALWAYS fight multiple mobs. The percent chance to proc from being hit can sometimes take a while to occur. With two mobs pounding on you, the odds multiply. I've found that it only takes two mobs to keep Reckoning running almost constantly.

Reckoning is so much fun to level with!

Just like Bhodhi said, along with holy shield you will be pretty much unkillable. Just make sure you fight multiple mobs at a time. It will not only help your reckoning proc more, it will also increase your exp per hour.

That is the build i would go with. It is more of leveling prot build, than a tanking one.

Reckoning is a must for AE grinding. I picked it up from the beginning, and love it. I'm currently 55 in western plaguelands. I pull 8-12 lvl 50-52 mobs, put up Seal of Light, keep up Holy Shield, and never drop below 3000 hp. You just can't beat killing a dozen mobs at once, getting the same exp you would for completing a quest lol.
