Any thoughts on carrion bird?Follow

#1 May 16 2008 at 11:36 AM Rating: Decent
Just wondering opinions of the carrion bird. Used a cat til 67, but wanted to get another pet to use for soloing/tanking and make my cat an instance/raid pet. Have a gorilla at 62, but the cooldown on thunderstomp makes it less useful then screech. Any thoughts?

And I've checked other pet sites, but I cant find all that much on the carrion birds.

Petopia has a decent amount of info depending on what you are looking for. http://petopia.brashendeavors.net/html/families/family_carrion.php.

Perhaps if you told us exactly what you were looking for someone could give a bit more advice.

I've read all the stats, im looking for more of actual opinions if anyone has tried one. I wanted to make a pet strictly gor soloing and tanking stuff, so i can respec my cat to more raid skills. Does the bird work well with its aoe for tanking multiple mobs?

If you want to fight multiples mobs my suggestion would be don't hit them and use something with a lot of survivability like a turtle. Then you just have to have it focus on the 1 target with its taunt.

The carrion bird is currently the best pet for tanking. Its armor bonus coupled with screech gives it the most survivability. You can have it attack one mob with several others hitting it and still be able to keep mend pet up at all times without pulling threat.

Turtles are a useless pet. Shellshield sounds nice but the Screech beduff will, overall, cause your pet to take less damage, while not reducing damage dealt.

I use a carrion bird for farming and dailys, I use a ravager for instances and raids. Get a bird, you will not regret it.

As of the latest patch http://petopia.brashendeavors.net/html/mobs/mob_direraven.php are now tameable. You can get one at level 68. I have had mine for 2 days now. He is level 70 with maxed loyalty, it doesnt take long.

Carrion bird FTW!

I love the 2-headed ones from HP, and I get a lot of 'cool pet' comments as well. He used to be my instance pet for the screech debuff, but there's so many other similar debuffs that override it (one of the warrior shouts, the druid demoralizing roar, etc.) that he's just my solo pet now.

If I didn't have those damn flapping wings in my face, I'd use my carrion bird more often. I like him for the great mob control that screech provides. His wide diet is nice too.

If there's a better soloing pet than a carrion bird, I haven't found it.

...and I've looked.
