Weapon QFollow

I have read a few threads that say to use one form of weapon or another, but rarely any solid information why. So, whats better? Daggers or swords? im only lvl 12, but lvling steadily and since this is my first rogue, i have no idea which to go for.

can someone please explain which is better and why?

Also, are the Felsteel Longblades good to D/W?

im not going to mention WHICH swords to use, but any weapon option OTHER THAN daggers is good for levelling.

ideally combat swords is the best levelling spec, because that 5% extra attack chance in the combat tree is great for DPS. mace spec isnt too bad for PVP, but i personally found it hard to find good offhand maces while levelling. fists are great endgame now (badge fists) but theres very few of them at other levels to make it worth it while XPing.

now heres why those weapons are better than dagger.
sinister strike, and all your normalized attacks, take 'weapon speed' into account for how much damage they do. weapon speed for daggers is automatically locked at 1.7, while for other weapons its 2.4 (Again, for normalized attacks)
Basically your damage will scale up more with non-dagger weapons than it will with daggers.

you ideally want to get a heavy slow high DPS main hand weapon, and a very fast offhand weapon for poison and combat potency procs.

your combat rotation will look like this
Cheap shot or Garrote (optional) -> sinister strike 2-3 times -> eviscerate. most things will die in that time. it can be a little boring but its the best levelling all game. make sure you get improved sinister strike in the combat tree.
