I have been trying to convince a guild mate of mine who is quite stubborn that MM does nowhere near the same amount of raw DPS in PVE as BM. So we decided to see which was king. Keep in mind that we both have about the same quality of gear as well.
Anyway, my guild went to Gruul's and we downed Gruul with no problem. At the end of the fight we brought up the damage meters to see who did more damage. I out DPSed my guildy by 57,000. Once again my friends proof that BM indeed, reigns supreme.

So, did you convince him to try out BM? If not, try to get him to give it a shot for a week... I think for alot of people it's a comfort level thing. People get used to a certain style of play and convince themselves that it's the best.
Chances are he's had the same spec for a long time so it wont cost anything to re-spec anyways.

I just wish that I had been able to get some WWS captures before she left the guild, because she stopped getting gear because she wouldn't respec.
And yeah. Ivey wouldn't respec because she's "been Marks since level 10," and she "understands Marksman" but doesn't understand Beastmastery, or where all the DPS is coming from, because the attack power is so low. Well, obviously, she doesn't understand Marks, either because she put 2 points into combat experience and 3 points into improved stings. lawl.
I was Marksman from level 52 to 70... and I was level 52 long before Draenei were inroduced into the game. I made the transition from Marks to BM just fine.

@ProjectMidnight: Who told you to always socket for the socket bonus? All of those agi/sta gems really are not worth it, just put red gems into those sockets and you get a lot more bäm :-)
E.g. look at your boots. You get 8agi, 6ap, 12sta. By putting in two red gems you'd have 16agi. Cleary 8agi are better than 6ap and 12sta.
And of course you can always gem epic gems which would yield even more stats.

If I resocket both to Agi, I lose my meta bonus. When I socketed them in the first place, I had to have them both purple gems for the meta bonus, because I didn't have my bracers from Rage.
I just haven't wanted to spend 60g to increase my DPS by .46 (according to Cheeky)... Or if I regem my bracers, I'd gain a whopping .81 DPS.
I dunno. I guess if I can find someone to craft a +8 agi gem for me, I'll replace the one in my bracers.

Yeah, but... You're worrying about the Meta gem when it's AP and run speed.
Socket an AGI and 3% crit Meta and then it'll matter. :)

Thats correct, and then you'll only need two yellow & blues gems (and I'd take either a jagged talasite jagged talasite or a jagged seaspray emerald) to meet the metagem requirements. The rest of your gems can then be red, and you can socket those two gems in some gear to achieve a socket bonus.
But really, most socket bonuses are not worth it.
Never EVER use any other meta besides the 12 agi/3%critdmg one.
It in itself makes helms with a meta socket nearly indefinately better than ones without a meta socket.
With my crit raidbuffed (34%.... yes that's low :( ) It gives me just about 1% extra dps.
Thats 12+dps on bosses purely from the 3%critdmg bonus, and it should be more as I'm lacking crit at the moment.

What the hell armory are you guys looking at? I have NEVER used anything BUT the Agi/Crit bonus gem.
How did this thread get so far off track? Although, this quite a good discussion...
