...Heal in Heroics and Karazhan? Im a Balance druid, i love playing it. I mainly play pvp but lately ive been delving into PvE a little, small things like Heroics and such. My gear isnt amazing, in fact just about all of it is from the S1 PvP Wyrmhide set. I can get around 800 SpD and like 821 +healing. However ive got some healing gear saved as some friends of mine want me to respec resto so we can group stuff easier. I read in the sticky that a resto druid needs +1k healing to be ready for kara, and at the moment, (with an elixir) i can boost my +healing to over 950 when i wear a mix of s1 and healing gear.

So whats the deal here? Is it the case that because Resto druids are well... resto and have healing talents then they only need a +1k healing set to be able to heal in kara. I on the other hand am a balance druid rocking feral charge with 5 points in furor as my only contribution to the resto tree. Would it really be impossible for me to heal with my current setup? Or can i do it?

Thanks

You'll most likely be OOM way too soon. If your heals aren't talented and not as efficient as they could be, and you lack the mana regeneration from both Dreamstate and Intensity, you're just asking for trouble.

Also, if you'd now spec resto, you'd lose a chunk of your bonus healing by giving up Lunar Guidance, putting you even lower than you already are.

Try a restokin build like this:

You should start feeling comfortable in Kara at around 1200 +heal, depending on how much the other healer(s) can put out.

Unless he posted his talent setup/link to armoury, how do you know he doesn't have dreamstate? Especially because he seems to be fully balance. Plus as a druid, the only way he'll be losing mana faster is if he's using hots when they're still ticking or (more likely) spamming HT.

Around the 1200 mark is good. See how much your heal gear is like, and if you perfer/more convienient pvping, try getting any healing pvp pieces if they're improvement (with heal, mp5 and intel) than anything you've got.

Also, check out www.wow-loot.com for a list of all drops from dungeons listing healing, ferl and balance gear, so you could see where you can find some upgrades from 5 mans and quests.

Can't argue about Dreamstate being in his build, but there is definetely no Intensity:

I know, that's why I didn't argue about that.

I was asked to bring my Druid to KZ's 2nd half. I said my +healing was teh suck (just over 1k buffed: food/healing elixir). I have not geared him up via instances (just been lazy lol). Our two tanks were ZA/SSC/TK ready with gear. Our main healer was also very well geared priest, I was basically there with another alt healer just filling in the time between our priest heals.

Trash mobs were no problem, Netherspite and Prince were no problem (except for Princes stupid magma buddies trapping us 3 times) :/

All and all I came in 2nd in healing, Mana was never really an issue since I had mana oil, mana pots, and innervate. As long as you're basically on KZ farm status you should be ok to raid heal, and assist on the MT and OT. I got two nifty things from that run and was happy =)

If your Balance build includes both Dreamstate and Intensity, you'll have no problems healing. Without those, mana will become an issue. We had a balance druid who switched randomly between 47/0/14, HT Dreamstate (34/0/27), and Balance/Swiftmend (30/0/31). He did fine, with around 1200 healing I believe, often just stacking Lifeblooms on raids. However, in heroics it will be more gear-intensive because you won't be able to count on other healers to pick up any slack.
