I hit 70 on my mage a little bit ago, and just wondering what my minimum spell damage would be to get into a kara group? Also i've found its hard to get into a group having never done it before. I know i could do it, I would just need a heads up here and there. Would it be smart to pug it and just wing it? Or try to get into a badge farming group that could hold there own with my crappy spell damage. I pvp'd straight for about a week and am only missing the pants of s1. I figured this might be enough to hold my own for a run and try to grab some gear? Any help is appreciated.
Most Badge runs are only looking for over-geared people. If you knew them would be one thing, but i wouldn't expect to get into a pug badge run. However, there are still Guilds and pug kara's who are working on the content. I would suggest finding something like that.
The easiest way to get into Kara is with an established guild. If you wanna burn through it quickly, find a good raiding guild that has the whole thing on farm, and tag along with them.
I think something like 700-800 spell dmg is acceptable for Kara. Dunno though, been a loooong time since I first started out in Kara =)

If you have all S1 gear then you probably have enough spell damage that most people would agree is the minimum. Where you will run into problems with PvP gear is that you have no +spell hit on it. Missing 5 times in a row on a boss will ruin you DPS, and unfortunately that is the only way a PUG justifies your worth.
If your not in a guild that runs Kara I wouldn't even suggest trying to get into a PUG for it. (Unless you really want the experience of being there.) H-MGT and badge loot all have superior gear than Kara.

Yeah, but Kara is the fastest way to get badges.
