to above post. Personally, I really do not believe that pally tanking shines until 70 level content. To be honest, spell damage plate gear doesn't even start dropping till u hit outlands.

When i rolled a pally tank, I rolled it cuz i thought it would be cool to 1 pull the ship in deadmines or the SM armory or stockades etc. honestly, any 70 could do that probably. It takes much more focus to become an effective tank tho.

Gearing/speccing for that and for regular tanking in higher level content is much different. at lower levels, righteous fury and salv on dps is more than enough to help u hold aggro. i think blessing of sanctuary is actually a better choice for those lower level instances as well. Until 10% more life becomes a necessity.

to answer your question since i have strayed, i dont think B of crusader is worth it. if you are leveling in prot spec, might as well stick to that talent tree or get up to Seal of Command in ret tree just in case u decide its faster to kill mobs with a 2hander imo.

Although, every level has an area where u can easily farm multiple melee mobs ^^

TY for the reply.

I picked Paly to tank or heal (don't care which) so long as i get invites to 5 mans.

My mage can solo those instances and probably faster than most toons. If you want to solo instances - look at a frost mage... We can't take a punch, but we sure can deliver one.

I like paly so far and i'm just trying to max out my tanking ability. Healing seems much more common sense (aka - keep the tank alive - save any stupid DPS when needed).

I am really liking this. My Mage was complicated solo, but simple in a group. I would CC, then spam my DPS. Now, i'm simple solo (IMO the boring part of the game) and extremely complex in a group. I have tanked, healed and DPS all instances below SM LIB. I have dropped heals while tanking, pulled agro while DPS (To save tank) and dropped in to take a beating while healing (Cause i was OOM and better able to deal with Damage with no healer....)

Wow - this is so much more complicated than a mage, but still, just as fun. Where my mage was about killing without being killed - my Paly is about damaging while mitigating damage. It's amazing the difference...

Quoted cause, well, I liked it :) Going into a place like the Armory of SM it takes me longer to loot the bodies then it does to run to the end of the instance and kill everything all at once. Bout a 10-15 minute run or so with looting.

And I agree about it taking more focus to effectively tank. Not mass genocide on a lowbie instance, but actual tanking. It may be easier than with a Warrior or Druid because we have fewer buttons to worry about, and don't have to cycle our targets, but it still requires focus and knowledge.

To the last post by the OP: by "B of Crusader" do you mean "Seal of the Crusader"? In that case, I would say it depends. Most of the time you probably wont' need to use it at all at those low levels, and this is even without having Holy Shield yet.

I am leveling a new Paladin on another realm, and got to go tank in BFD. I was 5-6 levels lower then 2 of the DPS we brought (the third being my gf's Shaman who I am leveling beside) and I never lost aggro once just putting up Seal of Righteousness and Consecrating. I don't have Blessing of Salvation yet either, and since I'm leveling Ret, I don't have Improved Righteous Fury.

So to sum up: Ret spec, using 1H+shield and SoR, no JotC, lower level then DPS, held aggro more than sufficiently.

If you find DPS IS pulling off you, won't hurt to try using JotC, but you shouldn't really need it yet.
