Just a thought-Deep arcane 3v3?Follow

This is just a little thought I came up with recently:

I've seen a PvP vid(TFMP III) where the protagonist stated, that the only way to get down Resto druids in PvP 1v1 is to specc deep arcane get 2 pieces T5, stack arcane blast, pop trinket+ AP and burn him down, since good geared druids will elseway outheal you - a problem we're all familiar with I believe.

So I came up with the idea, if the specc + 2 pieces T5 can deal so insane DPS, why not just group with resto druid and warr, to frontally attack, while you silently stack arcane Blast and then burn the target within 10 secs, while the healer can only sit and watch, since your DPS + mortal strike make it impossible to heal him up? Slow could also be added on top of the pile...

Its a pretty crude tactic, and you're sacrificing a lot of surviveablity and CC, but if the tactic works more often than fails it should be considered a serious option in my eyes. The only thing that keeps me from testing is that I don't have 2 pieces T5 -.-
But maybe I'll do it anyways soon.

Any thoughts on this? TY in advance.

Arcane in pvp is pretty potent. Even without AB and just using AM the dmg is there. However you lose all of your mobilty making you a pretty dead mage. *which you will be if paired with a warrior and druid* and i always fear a counterspell with arcane.
But i agree, the damage would be great, so if you can make it happen at some point im sure it will pay off.
this spec would probably serve better in a 5v5 were the mage usually will not be the first target to die. Giving you that time to be using that dmg.

Hmm I did try the specc out today, and It really deals serious DPS in AV on the bosses there. But what I conclude from a few duels and 10 2v2 matches now is actually, that arcane isn't very suitable for PvP.

The problem is that eventhough AM don't suffer from pushback the real point for why I wanted to specc arcane does (AB). Its really annoying to try to get 3 debuffs, while someone spams something at you. Also the smarter ppl go for you immediately after they see you're not frost. Mana shield is too expensive to use it, and therefore suviveability is fairly low.

I conclude that unless improved AM is changed to also affect AB, Mana shield isn't changed in some way, and slow buffed to 70% movement speed reduction and with the 50%-attack-slowing-effect also on melee speed, you can pretty much forget about speccing arcane for arena.

Mana shield is also something really annoying. Also in other speccs it rarely saves me through anything. Maybe it would help to reduce the cost to a 1:1 ratio and to reflect 50% of the absorbed damage back at the source, but the way it is now, makes is vital to specc frost for Ice barrier IMO.

The marvellous damage-potential cannot really be used in 2v2, maybe against a bad 5v5 team the tactic might work, but I doubt the specc to be any use at all unless you can stand still long enough -> maybe in BGs.

Me and my 3v3 team got our shoulders and are bored of pvp now so we're pveing most of the time. I did a couple of rounds of 3v3 after I respecced arcane for al'ar, and it was horrible. Your main nuke, AB, doesn't have pushback reduction or anything, which is bad for someone being a rogues main target most of the time.

The spec provides no form of survivability or easy uninterruptable damage, which are the main focuses of frost specs. The damage you do get off with the ap + pom + whatever simply isn't enough to kill anyone.

If you're free to cast you'll kill em fast, but keeping the debuff up with all the ccing isn't very comfortable, not on your ability to cc, nor your mana pool. They'll also switch on you once they figure out you're arcane.

Hope that makes some sense, else I can clarify when sober.

because that rogue will kill you in 7 seconds.

Unfortunately, Arcane/[Element] PvP builds are better in using Frost or Fire spells with the buffs from the Arcane tree.

Arcane is great in PVP until you get targeted. Between the lack of survivability talents and CS locking out almost every useful spell you have, Arcane mages tend to fold faster than Superman on laundry day.

Arcane Blast is on the same school as Polymorph, so it's safe to kick it anytime. You'd never get an AB off with a rogue on you - and they would put the rogue on you.

Yep, thats what I figured after all.

When you do PvP for some time you'll get a weird feeling when using a dangerous spell, and that is always the main-damage school, and arcane, since when arcane is locked I cannot blink, polymorph, CS. Pretty deadly, and while playing arcane I got this feeling just every freaking second, since any spell I use for damage I just perfect, for taking me out of the fight, since main-damae school is blocked right at the same time as my precious blink and everything, so actually you can forget about arcane in PvP IMO.

ImP AM is great especially with pillar dancing healers, but the bread an butter of a deep arcane PvP spec is the PoM pyro. The whole point is to eliminate one opponent very very fast then survive while your group has the +1 advantage.
