The things bout healing from tier to tier is that there are no set limits like with entering Kara. It is very flexible, a pally can have 100+ less healing and 3% more crit and 20 mp5 and be better.

Kara 1000 bare min, 1100 preferred.

Gruuls/Mags 1400/1500.

SSC/TK 1600+, hopefully you have more than 95 mp5 while casting and 15% spell crt by this point, if not you should look into that.

BT/Hyjal 1900+, 20% spell crit or higher and hopefully 100-110 mp5 while casting.

Personally i would never roll ssc tk with any healer under 1.8k healing, but that's just me.

Aye but you have 2k+ healing with **** spell crit and ho hum mp5.

/shrug

Honestly that is where the other stats come into play, you would do just fine in SSC/TK. A pally with 4% more spell crit, 20 more mp5 and 200/300 less +heal would do fine as well. At least for entry TK/SSC. Not talking bout walking into a Vashj kill.

At that point gear is less of an issue (though you still want certain minimums) and it becomes more about "Is he smart enough not to stand in fire" or "Does he have macros, strong heal strategies and pick up quick on encounters"

By the time you're getting T5+ gear you should know enough about playing a paladin that you can determine which of your own stats (healing, crit, mp5, mana pool, and health) are lacking and which are fine. I made a pre-kara guide because there are a lot of paladins new to raiding when they get thrust into kara, but by the time you're doing T5 content, you should know your class, and shouldn't need guides or stat lists or whatever to tell you stuff.

On an additional note, if you're in T5 content or beyond, typically you're getting all your gear for raiding, so you're at the mercy of items dropping and you actually getting them. That means if your current setup is low on a stat (ie. healing or mp5) there isn't a way to "fix" it other than trying to wait for another drop off a raid boss, which is what you're doing already just by raiding. Therefore any explanation of stats, requirements, or anything of the sort is a complete waste of time for everyone else.

The current easy availability of gear has led to overestimates of the stats required. I ran my first heroic with less than 1000 healing (healing my brother, a tank with similar quality gear to me, with guildies dpsing in the same stuff). My first T5 boss kill was done with approximately 1600 Healing, 25% crit and pretty damn low mp5 (I was a real pot chugger in those days).

@Dilbrt - You have a great deal of choice in your stats in tbc, If i swapped all of my 9Heal/2mp5 or 11Heal/4Crit gems for 18 heal ones, I would gain about 90 healing and lose about 12 mp5 and almost 1% crit, so you can make some adjustments to the balance. Also if you don't like selling/deing gear that might have some niche use like me then you can swap stuff around quite a lot by the time you hit T5 (you can make some huge changes with trinkets alone, swapping Essence of the Martyr for Vial of the Sunwell for example.)

Like said above certain levels are nice but not really required, back when I was holy I was doing Lurker, Hydross, and VR with +1450 ish heals crappy mp5 and pretty good spellcrit. And I was by no means being carried, I was usually #3 on healing charts.

That is one thing I do enjoy though, the gear is not really all that linear. With badge vs drop, gem choices and trinkets factored in I have seen a lot of pallies go a lot of different ways and where it works and where it does not.

I equip my alchemist stone and pot on cooldown for fights that i know will strain my mana =)

I believe the calculation comes up to 70 extra mp5.

bod hit this one on the head perfectly. Raids are progressive throughout. So the early bosses are easier (in general) than the later ones. The stats that bod listed are more for entry. You'll need to be better geared if you want to do a full clear (unless you are being carried).

I would never plan on doing a full Kara run with healers at +1000, unless the DPS and tank are over-geared to carry them.
