So im 62 now and was getting extremely bored playing as frost and decided to give fire a chance to hopefully spark my interest back.....I tried fire before and was not feeling it, but today I fell in love with it.....The crazy crits and dots were what i have been needing for a long time plus the spells u get in the tree offer some nice variety even though i dont use them all the time.....And its not that much different than playing frost besides the slowing effects and extra frost nova and ice barrier.....The survivability is not as good as frost but everything dies faster so i dont even care....Anybody else ever have the same reaction from changing specs?

only reaction I got from when i switched to fire was getting pissy when my hot keys were all different, total lack of survivability, getting pwnd by hunters and rogues, and not having a badass pet to play with.

Honestly, I never had that same reaction, but I switched to fire from frost right as TBC came out. So I had to learn a lot about my spec and how to play it better.

However, now that I am a fire mage, I don't think I could ever go back. Not permanently at least.

I lvl 1-70 fire. I love it, it will always be my main spec (save when i get 2 pieces of t5) but at 70 I did give frost a try and frost is definitely alot of fun, especially in pvp, so now I go back and forth alot, but im always fire for raiding.

I have always been fire except for A'lar (first kill) and MH. It's really the only spec I have fun with. PvP is more fun with it too. :)

I don't PvP much, and when I do it's almost always BGs. For me, Fire is incredible. While I do miss the aesthetics and sounds of Frost, and the Water Elemental, as a mage who wants to perform well I can't help but love Fire. The sheer power is amazing, and because I deal so much damage I also have to actually worry about pulling mobs from the tank now (almost never happened when I was Frost), adding a whole other level of challenge and overall gameplay.

And there's nothing quite like sniping people in a crowd with Pyroblasts and Fireballs. Easy honour, especially in AV.

Surprisingly, yes, I had a similar reaction. I level Vanilla WoW my mage from 1-60 as a frostie. When TBC opened, I only played him a little bit; but frost was just painful (I also had leveled up a druid to 70, so it was tough getting back into the playstyle). I will be the first to admit I sucked at using the elemental.

Then I read around on these forums a bit and decided to go Fire. WOW. If I get lucky, I can three-shot something my own level. I've had no problem grinding quests and mobs as fire so far. The DPS is AMAZING, and while my mana seems to drop faster, it's simply because I haven't moved my playstyle to a fire orientation yet.

Yes, respeccing to fire was awesome.

Well I guess fire it is. Been tossing over which way to go. Fire seems to be the choice spec. I posted in the greatest mage post ever about looking for a solo guide to point me in the right direction. Level 12 and have 2 points. Havn't used them yet. lol

I leveled as frost from.. 10 to 12. From there on I respecced into fire and have been blowing the hell out of everything up to 65.

Other than the bad mana efficiency, I LOVE it! People complain about the survivability.. but I haven't had many issues at all. Yellow same level mobs die before they get to me.

My main is an herb/alch/potspec so I send her mana pots all the time to keep her going hahahah.

I'm jealous of the frost pet though. Once I hit 70 I may mess around with it for PvP and PvE for a bit. But I already have a pet class, don't really want another.
