My armory: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Dragonblight&n=Hurtstoop

I have been working to increase my Damage/hit/ and critical. I am finally at a point were i can start to raid kara and do heroics.

Damage: 730
Spell Hit: 163
Crit: 27.7%

Problem is i don't have much health. I think my health is around 5800. Lots of other mages i group with for instances and such have much more health than i do. Is this something i should be worried about? If so, what do i do about it? I have completed my spellfire and spellstrike set. I havnt put much time and money into gems yet. Should i get gems to increase my stamina? Or in the process of raiding and heroics will i get the gear i need?

any suggestions?

So what is with all the crit/mp5 gems?

To answer your question, I wouldn't specifically gem for stam unless it meets a good set bonus. As you gear up you will/should be getting a bit more stam through the gear that you receive as they have different item budges. Don't forget to put +40spelldmg on your staff, glyph of power on the head piece, and to finish gemming the spellstrike.

the gems that i have in there are just there because they either droped in an instance or i got them really cheap, and since i dont have anything better, i just put them in.

I think i will start getting gems for +spell damage unless anyone can tell me a reason not to.

Stamina enchant on chest and boots
25 badges for the Dreadweave Cuffs
Epic spellthread on pants
drop the healing ring, there are better rings, blue ones, from chain quests and normal instances

Are dreadweave cuffs better than the pvp bracers (vindicator I think). I seem to remember thinking they weren't, but I haven't paid close attention.

I have Vindicator Silk Cuffs (15 crit, 27 damage) vs the vindicator dreadweave which is (29 damage, 0 crit). The only purchasable cuffs I see with badges are 35 and they have (25 haste, 29 damage) but lower stam, no crit, and no gem socket. :/

I'd think silk cuffs are the best out of the 3 for a mage.

I lean towards the haste ones.

For the heck of it, let's do a comparison. Assume that you need hit and use an epic hit rating gem(hit will be the most valuable, so let's assume best case scenario for each). I'm gonna go over to Lhivera's calculator and find out the numbers for my own current gear/spec situation to figure out how to weight these stats.

Quote:
Stat Relative DPS Values
1.00 Damage: 0.70 Hit Rating, 1.26 Crit Rating, 0.88 Haste Rating
1.00 Hit Rating: 1.43 Damage, 1.80 Crit Rating, 1.26 Haste Rating
1.00 Crit Rating: 0.79 Damage, 0.56 Hit Rating, 0.70 Haste Rating
1.00 Haste Rating: 1.13 Damage, 0.79 Hit Rating, 1.43 Crit Rating

To figure out the weighting, I'm just equating everything to damage.

Quote:
1.00 Damage: 1.00 Damage
1.00 Hit Rating: 1.43 Damage
1.00 Crit Rating: 0.79 Damage
1.00 Haste Rating: 1.13 Damage

On pure damage stats only, we have:
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=33883;source=live
31 damage(including socket bonus), 10 hit

Weighting calculation:
(31 x 1.00) + (10 x 1.43)
31 + 14.3
Dreadweave Cuffs Damage equivalent wrote:
45.3

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=33913;source=live
29 damage(including socket bonus), 17 crit, 10 hit

Weighting Calculation:
(29 x 1.00) + (17 x .79) + (10 x 1.43)
29 + 13.43 + 14.3

29 + 28.25

Now, that shows that based on pure damage stats, we're looking at the Runed Cuffs being slightly better overall, even assuming you need the hit rating(if you don't, obviously the runed cuffs pull even further ahead). As far as stats otherwise go, I see that as a personal choice. Though I am a huge fan of haste overall.

Also, these numbers also only reflect MY personal stats(with 10 hit rating subtracted to allow us to calculate out the value of hit), so your results may vary. So I encourage anyone to do this for their own gear before making the decision.

why the hell have healing-things on??
get rid of them.
also i would say, spellpower is better on rings than stats.
and u have WAY to much hit.
get rid of 30 hit-rating and get some more damage(replace gems or the trinket).

correct me if I am wrong but isnt the hit cap 164 for fire?
and I see 191 hit rating = 27 to much. is this right.

if so you can drop some of your hit gems for dmg, i see 762 dmg and that needs to come up more so than sta/hit pts.

please keep in mind i am still new and this post is for my own clarifing as well

From what I see so far:

You have more plus healing than + spell damage, not counting fire and arcane. Get rid of that healing ring and healing cloak, FFS.

Around 7k stamina with bluish beginner gear is fine for raiding. Keep your spell hit where it is, and spell crit, well, if you're fire, you really just need abit over 20%... But Pyromaniac would be a great addition to your talent tree, if you can find a spare 3 points for it.

As for specific socketing, well, It really depends on the socket bonus. For example, your shattrath jumpers will give you 45 more mana, which, by all means, isnt really that great. If you replace that with stam gems, and replace the sockets in your spellfire set with the right gems, you can get just around 500ish more hit points, depending on your balance. Another thing is the enchants. Revolve around +150 stam for chest, +spelldmg for rings, 40 spelldmg for staff is good too, stam for bracers and boots would also bring you up by alot. Shoulder enchants would come handy once you replace those shoulders in kara.
