I'm debating on lvling my Rip-Blade ravager that got left at 65 or just dropping it and taming one of the lvl 70 razor thorn ones. Only real attachment i have to the ripblade one is the color variance when its summoned. I just love my owl so much Smiley: grin

What's this color-changing ravager you're talking about?

Edit: Oh! I just found out. Hehe, my pet died and when I revived it, it was a different color.

It's not that bad. Level 65 should be high enough to take him out to netherstorm and grind Scryers rep (since you're only honored). Depending on where you grind it, a lot of the mobs are casters, but even the melee belfs are pushovers.

My ravager is only 63, but doing all the SSO dailies put him at around 25% to the next level. It's going to be a long journey, but once he's a couple of levels higher I'll pull him into some instances and pwn face.

Maybe I should find a group for Coilfang or something.

Meh they are alright. I still prefer the Cat. Id rather have a higher low damage meaning more consistant damage.

You know that that´s *********
Ravager´s dont do any less consistent dps, Gore evens out after something like 1 minute if not faster.

Now i have a question that ive never been able to get answered, If i untrain my pet would it get back all the Loyalty points for its current lvl and loyalty?
#12 May 11 2008 at 4:59 AM Rating: Decent
Do you mean Best Friend level 6 etc? If so, then yes, it will stay as your best friend, you just dont have the skills.
#13 May 11 2008 at 5:19 AM Rating: Good
Hmmm i think i worded it wrong by loyalty points i ment training points.

Your pet gains training points based on loyalty level and experience level.

At experience level 70 and loyalty level 6 (Best Friend), it will have 350 training points total. Doesn't matter at what level you trained it either, which is why sometimes, after training a pet which already knows an ability, your training points will be in the negatives.

At level 70 and Best Friend, if you unlearn your pet, it will receive 350 training points.

Training points = (lvl x (loyalty - 1)) - points spend on skills.

No, you don't. You just value the looks over the raw DPS.

Which is fine, but come out and say it rather than trying to rationalize it.

I've found that cats get too big for my dwarf. He really needs something a little more square, like himself. A cat is long and slender and more suitable for a night elf or troll, in my opinion.

Of course, people can go with whatever they like. That's the beauty of it.

Morris has been my buddy forever so I'll stick with him. Cats rule, others drool! :D (Morris made me say that.)

I might do Ravager, but I really don't want to get bogged down into "Pet of the moment". Right now, they are good but anything good seems to get the nerf bat from Blizz within a patch. So, if I do the ravager thing, it will be with a 70 out of the gate. I can reset Morris back to my instance/daily buddy and use the ravager for PvP only.

I'd like to have an anti-caster pet, but really can't find a good one for the role. Maybe Windserpet or Dragonhawk. Something that can go range vs. range.

I wish there was a 'caster' pet that drained mana. I'd love to sick that on a Pally in arena.

(edit: God my spelling sucks today... BAD FINGERS!)

I feel the same way about my windserpent, a Son of Hakkar I solo tamed. It's been through at least one nerf since BC but is still a decent DPS choice. And it's a very attractive Pet, and is an awesome swimmer. :)

But... I will be taming a Ravager for those rare occasions when there is a Shaman in the group who complains about the WS stealing his Stormstrike charges. 20% for the Shaman is a lot more damage than 20% for my Pet, so I don't mind. I also should make a separate macro which doesn't include the LB for pugs and such, but those are rare enough that I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Ravagers are like a hideously deformed guy who it pains to look at, but is the coolest man on the block.

If you really want to level your pet fast, go into a guild Kara run. Leveling pets with a 2-hour Kara is far and away the best way to level them, and even if you're less geared and take more like 3 or 4 hours it's still the fastest way.

Keep in mind this is coming the perspective of 8-manning Kara at times, and clearing the entire place in under 1:45. Our healers spend about as much time DPS'ing as healing, or at least they could but they like the break and prefer to just sit there :p

Kara sucks for pet levelling. I took a lvl 68 Serpent in there (Guild were prewarned and OK with it) and her exp bar barely budged. Although it seems pets dont get hurt by the group exp decrease, they don't get bonus exp from raids.

Regular instances are much better.
