I only have 1 main, a few alts in the low low low levels, but my main is a raiding mage.

I am not here to ask "oooooo look at my shinies and tell me if i r good!"

This is more of an opinionated (sp?) question.

Armory

I just got the bracers last night, so they are not gemmed or chanted since it was late. I believe I am going to use the +8 crit gem and the +12 int enchantment.

I have Brooch of Unquenchable Fury and Icon of the Silver Crescent in my raid set, plus 34 badges from getting the Scryer's Blade of Focus

The guild I am in is starting the T5 content. Have downed VR once and are starting to work on Lurker.

I guess what I am asking is a couple things. Should I craft the spellstrike set? I have the patterns, and some of the mats, but should I? Are my gems up to par with starting T5 content? My enchants?

I am asking, because I do not feel like I am performing as I should in raids. I know mages aren't #1, but I am falling below where I would like to be. I stack my scorches and spam my fireballs. I don't pop IV or my trinket as much as I should, but other than that I am playing well, just can't seem to get the damage numbers I want.

I really need to replace that dagger, I want to break 1k damage, I know that will help.

Thanks for you assistance!

I'd suggest going with a +hit gem (as you still need 14 to cap, or switch your current neck for the banked one and stick a crit/spell damage gem in there, potent noble topaz I believe) and the +15 damage enchant unless you are planning to replace the bracers in the really near future (int enchants are meh for fire/frost mages).

Get a new meta-gem for your helm (the +crit, +crit damage one is good), you may need to regem to meet the requirements though.

The blade will be a nice boost for you.

I'd also switch the Lightning Capacitator for the Icon, as far as I'm aware LC isn't that good anymore (they changed/added and internal cooldown or something).

Other than that I guess it depends on where your dps is, which is hard to tell without numbers of some sort (I find WoW Web Stats useful for this if your guild runs them).

I don't know much about fire mages, but I would suggest trying to get a good rotation of cooldowns going so that you make the most of using them during a fight.

I'd also look at getting some new legs, either of the new badge legs would be good. I went with the crit ones because my spell hit is fine, but you might want to get the spell hit legs to give yourself some room to upgrade other parts of your gear.

When we run the 25 mans I use the Icon and the Brooch. My spell hit is always capped. Thats my priority. I am in my farming gear unfortunately so you can't get the best idea. I am thinking of making the spell strike set which would be new pants and helm. I will look into a new meta, but if I make the spellstrike set I won't need one.

I don't have the badges for new pants, because I am sacing 150 for the dagger.

As for numbers, we haven't ran WWS in a while. We are going to get back into it. My numbers are not horrible, I just feel I can do better. Last night in ZA I was around 850 dps on boss fights. I know I should be higher and thats been really bugging me.

Any reason why you use TLC for grinding/etc? I would think that the overall +43 (I believe) spelldmg from Icon would be superior to occasioanlly getting a lighting bolt to hit every 4 or 5 mobs.

Mages in my guild were using spellfire and spellstrike well into T5 content. It's an amazing set for the hassle to make it.

I'm saving up for mine currently :)

We are now T6 and one mage is still using the head piece. (bad luck, but still a damn fine piece).

Ok,

Webstats

Thats the webstats for our Mag run last night. I have upgraded (since original post) my weapon to the Scryer's Focus Blade, my bracers to the Fury of Ursine, and I am working on the Spellstrike Set currently. I was #2 in overall DPS at 909 just from upgrading my weapon.

I am starting to become pleased with myself a little more now.
