I’m probably not the best qualified to offer advice as I’m yet to step into a 25man raid, but I do play as a survival hunter and one of the biggest jumps in my dsp was when I started using ‘hotkeys’ to fire off my shot rotation macro. If you’ve not used it before you programme your keyboard such that by holding down the 3 key for example it gives the effect to pressing the keys 20 or 50 times a second depending on what you program. If you programme it to be too high then the errors get annoying though.

I’ve also wrote my own spreadsheet for working out optimum shot rotations before discovering the cheeky had already done a much better job that I ever would, but playing round with these spreadsheets showed me a couple of things.

The dps of the 1.5:1 rotation drops off quite sharply if you add in an auto steady to cope with multishot being on cooldown for example. With an un-hasted weapon speed of 2.52 the 1.5:1 is pretty much at it’s most efficient in terms of dps. However, any haste effect will mean that multishot will still be on cooldown next time it is required, so damage from the 1.5:1 rotation doesn’t scale as well with haste as the 1:1 or 3:2 rotations.
I’ve not looked into maximising dps while under haste in any great detail, but I switch from 1:1.5 to 1:1 when using rapid fire. To truly optimise dps I would suggest using cheekys spreadsheet to evaluate 1:1 and 3:2 at each combination of haste effects you can be under in your particular raid makeup. There are some combinations of gear that throw out the numbers for 1.5:1 rotations though so check that the spreadsheet is making optimal use of multi and arcane or your comparison won’t be reliable.

necro-posting my own post (yes seems like a bad habit).

Since you helped with some really good tips, I want to give some feedback about the fight.

Finally we did manage to down Brutallus. After some weeks of bad raid setups which prevented progress raids against Brutallus we downed him tonight on our third day of attempts.

It all worked out a litle different than I expected a few weeks ago.
We did Brutallus with 2 hunters (me as SV and a BM hunter with cokie cutter spec).
I tried different talent builds and for our kill today I used a 5/20/36 (with efficiency since the BM hunter had the improved hunters mark skilled).
As raid support I had a feral druid and a resto shaman. The bm hunter got a enhancement shaman, rogue, ms warrior and ret pally in his group.
Since I had no mana problems at all (yay ret pally and resto shaman) I used 3 haste pots and 0 mana pots and ended the fight with 80% mana left. The next time I will skill the improved hunters mark since the BM hunter ran low on mana on our kill try (he had to use a mana pot and could only use 2 haste pots).

Scorpid sting duty + soaker group (a lot of steady-cast interrupts) + burn during the fight (~10 seconds lost dps time because you have to run to a safe spot and back to your assigned position) cost me at least 200dps so I'm feeling ok with my performance of ~1.8k dps on the kill try.

And since you all wanted webstats and logs and stuff, here are the stats of our brutallus first kill: clicky
The report is anonymous since we don't want the reports to be public. My toon is named Dione in this logs.
Thanks to you I switched to a 3:2 shot rotation (and I also got my 3.0 speed bow the last week, now I only have to be lucky to get me some haste gear to really produce more dps).

Please, no more punishment. I'll bow down and kiss your feet and call you any name that you like, as long as I don't need to see any of your nerdgasms.
