Healadin and Magister's TerraceFollow

I pugged MgT as a healadin a few days ago, and everything went fine up to the second stage of the Kael fight when we all failed miserably. I just couldn't cope with everyone taking damage at once as we were floating around in the air and we wiped. Repeatedly.

The dps weren't exactly stellar and people kept getting zapped by those floating energy balls, but I still feel that I should have done better. (I should add that I have healed up to the Maiden in Kara as well as every other 70 instance without any major problems, so my gear is fine).

Does anyone have any suggestions as how to heal this fight as a Pala, or more exactly, the second phase?

Thanks in advance.

If people get hit with the orbs, they're dead before you've clicked the heal button. That's their own damn fault, not yours.

Just FoL when people get a few thousand down from the AoE damage. The important thing is to stay off the floor and stay away from orbs, and then throw out heals when you need to.

If you can, run it with a shadow priest. They help an incredible amount during that phase, especially as a pally with not HoT's or AoE healing.

Lastly, healing up to Maiden is Kara doesn't necessarily mean anything. I'm in Hyjal, and we have more problems with heroic MrT than with Kara by a long shot. MrT is harder than some heroics imo, and heroic MrT is on part with early ZA rather than Kara in difficulty.

Well, as I have done that run a few times as holy pally here is my input. None of this should be ground breaking, but just ensure that it stays in the front of your mind as that portion of the fight does get intense.

Do your best to keep eeryone completely topped off before that portion. if they need to bandaid on their own, then make sure they are aware of this.

If you have a lock, ensure everyone has a fresh lock pot. Super healing pots are also cheaper than a wipe. Make sure they know this.

If everyone(not you) pops a healing potion, it will be a much cheaper investment that multiple wipes.

Also, You have to fly away from those energy things, and it will significantly lower the damage. It will still be about 1k a tick, but not huge insane amounts.

Here is what I do personally when that part happens. I immediatelly pop divine illumination. I am going to be casting something like 1-2 fols to top the first two people off, and then go into straight holy light mode for the next 10-15 seconds, so it is vital i am saving myself the mana. Also, on whoever is last(or came with low stamina), make sure you have saved your divine favor crit for this time.

Also, pop the Prayerbook trinket. If you are a draenie, then you may start that portion with a gift of naruu on the tank.

If you are not having problems with mana, but having problems keeping that last guy alve, do not forget about holy shock. It basically is a fol that lands 1.5 seconds sooner.

And lastly, if you are low on mana but have not used a potion, pop lay on hands on the lowest guy, who ideally will be your tank, and then pop your mana potion to bring your mana to a reasonable amount.

And it is interesting that you bring up maiden because this fight reminds me of maiden. It is a very healer intensive fight. You really need to be on your game. That fight is ultimately up ot you. Obviously the higher the dps, the quicker the fight goes, but it will remain intense through the entire duration.

I have only been in Mgt 3 times, and have not yet wiped on that portion, but only because I was warned that this fight was basically my baby.

Unless you have reason to believe your tank is complete crap or your dps is week, if a wipe happens their the onus is ultimately on you, assuming the dps popped pots.

That is the problem. Tell them to not get zapped, and you will be OK. Not getting zapped should be their #1 priority. DPS should be #2. This fight can take a while, so tell them not to rush it. Rushing can cause errors. Errors = wipe.

Also, make sure that you don't get hit with the floating energy balls. Having to heal yourself also takes mana.

Finally, if there is an off-healer (i.e. druid, Paladin, Priest, Shammy), ask them to help by just taking care of themselves. That will reduce your healing targets by 1, and should be sufficient for you to keep on top of them.

Oh, and if the tank doesn't mind, you can let him/her die to save mana and keep the DPS alive. Not nice, but can save the group. No tank is needed after liftoff.

Getting zapped is what kills groups here. The DoT is incredibly easy to heal through.

I would tell everyone to swim into the hallway next to the door as soon as you levitate every phase so that they're in range. If they swim off around Kael, it's their own damn fault if they die. From there you move together. You want all three balls moving in the same direction all of the time, which means everyone who's alive needs to keep close.

Swim to either the left or right of Kael and throw out a couple FoLs, then swim to the other side of him and repeat. The balls should be far enough from the hall to return there and top people off just in time for the levitate to end.

If there is an off-healer (esp. a pally tank) I would advise that you ask them to heal YOU. If it gets too hard to keep up with healing on the DPS -- forget about it. As long as that off-healer is healing you, and you're healing him you're golden. This is why Paladin pairs are great, Spiritual Attunement, mana pots, and potentially Arcane Torrents (if horde) mean you could continue healing through the levitation for an hour if felt like it and had the pots for it. It's much easier to coordinate a 2 man effort after the levitate when you have a Pally/Shammie healer and widdle him down slowly during his resting phase. You can probably take him down by 4-5% each rest.

If my group is wiping constantly because the healer can't keep up, I whisper that to him. When it's just the two of us, it's easy mode.
