OT DPS for kara...Follow

I have seen this thrown around a couple of times and was wondering... Is there a different way to gear if your OT DPS instead of just all out dps?

If this can be done I will prolly try this because grinding as prot is frustrating at best and I would much prefer to be 2h arms/fury again, However if I can do something else that will improve my DPS solo while still making me a viable OT in Kara that would be great.

Thanks.

Use something like this:

The only 2 bosses that truly require an offtank in the classical sense are Midnight and Moroes. On Midnight it's just a matter of DPS giving you enough time to build some threat before starting, with the "true" tank picking up Attumen once he spawns, and at Moroes you're supposed to only be 2nd on his list anyway.

Everything else is just trash pulls and as long your raid leader ensures that you get to build enough threat before DPS starts on your target you'll do just fine. Easily done by killing the MT's target first, giving you those extra seconds needed.

For attumen, just have your tank pick up both the horse and the rider. For moroes, any warrior will do, just beat on the guy full time so you don't fall behind. You can also turn your back to moroes, because then he can't do his special moves. he will hit you more though.

We usually run through kara with one tank, 2 healers, and 7 dps. Makes it go really quick.

When I OT Kara on my warrior, I keep his spec as 17/44 and just bring his takning gear along for the 2 fights he needs it on.

Normally our pally tank can handle tanking Midnight and Attumen, so I just OT Moroes and one of the adds (so I build up some rage) and then tank the 2nd shift in the green beam on Netherspite.

Other than that he's in his full fury gear doing DPS.

Also, on Netherspite on the times when I'm not tanking the green beam I can just equip his OH weapon and DPS in his tanking gear.

x2

once i was able to manage 490 defense with gear, i specced 17/44 all the way. before i could get 490 def with gear alone though, i speced 8/41/12 to pick up anticipation and 7 more points down the prot tree.

Ok so I need to pick up another 20 points of def rating then I can go back to my arms spec and just switch when needed.

That sounds like a good deal. While it is fun to tank I rather be able to Solo as well and I have only 1 set of gear now... With the exception of the PvP blue stuff I used while I was arms.

Thanks alot guys. I'll try this out as soon as I possibly can.
