Turtles at 70?Follow

#1 May 08 2008 at 2:36 AM Rating: Decent
Has anyone used turtles?
Their Shell Shield ability keeps drawing my eye but alas they have no focus dump or dash/dive which might be a problem.

I'm thinking a nice 70 turtle would be great for some lazy Elite grinding as both my ravager and owl die excessively against 70+ elites even when healing.
Kiting is viable but seems to take forever.

But with a turtle, hopefully after a MD aimed/arcane I would be able to go all out freely!

Could it be worth trying?
Wish there were 70 versions of all pets, damn you Bliz!

shell shield is really really worthless..... it has a 3 minute cooldown.
And even if you use it, it wont really save your pet anyway.

My guess is that screech prevents more damage than shellshield does.

Turtles are worthless... I don't think there is anything else I can say about them TBH.

I have seen 4 hunters on my server rollin w/ turtles... and I can't help but laugh at how horrible these huge creatures are. =D

Ouch, 3 minutes is a long time!
I assumed it could be up indefinitely.

Nope. And there'd be no point in that happening anyway because your pet attacks much less when it's triggered. So you'd be relying a lot on your own damage when it was on. It would be like having a super low damage pet all the time.

I briefly had a turtle tamed... can't remember why. Probably for a bite ability or something.

While they are rated as an 'Armor' pet class, they can't do much else. Grab one and try it out. What's the worse thing that can happen? You have to pull your other pet out of the stable.

The real problem with Turtles is that they are tank pets, and we all know long before level 70, Hunter Pets cannot tank in locations where the loot is worth having.

For soloing, Turtles will have a hard time holding aggro with their poor DPS (which Shell Sheild only makes worse). For instances and raids, you need to bring a DPS pet.

I have seen some level 70 turtles on my server, but they are few and far between. I have to suppress the urge to /whisper Pettopia.com at those Hunters every time I see them.
