Rogue + ??Follow

I'm going to start WoW up again tomorrow, and my friend and I are starting new characters. I want to be a rogue, but we are unsure what type of class he should be? What class do rogues work best with?

maybe a mage? you guys can kill anything before you stun lock is up and then you will fare pretty well in arena once your both 70.

Shadow priest would work well too.

Good arena combo at 70 and he can heal you 2 while you are leveling up.

Or even a druid, at any spec they can heal decently pre 60. and will allow you to put a hurting on almost anything that comes your way. Druids are like swiss army knives... they have that razor sharp pocket knife to dig into your opponents flesh, a pair of tweezers to help clean and dress your wounds, a lifetime warranty during which they will never break, and a toothpick to clean your teeth when you are done chewing up your foes.

My vote would be for a frost mage.

At 60+ doing shatter combos as well as the amount of damage on one target and the CC that you'd have available would make for pretty fast questing.

Mage if you're on a PvE server I think.

Druid if PvP.

Frost Mage, purely for arena at 70 and also the frost nova etc. to stop mobs from running and pulling another 5 :P

Warlock, warlock dots everything and while mobs run after him you kill em from behind.

Mage, you run in grab 10-15 mobs, Mage frost nova/aoe while you attack/stun/slow the mobs that resist the trap.

Druid, you kill Druid heals, never stop.

Hunter, gross combo, too much running if hunter and pet bounce aggro.

Shaman, windfury = very nice.

Pally, aoe grinding(similar to Mage).

Rogue, massive dmg, 1st holds aggro on 1st mob, 2nd mob= 2nd rogue, by the time 2nd mob is dead 1st rogue should have near full health.

Priest, bubble/dmg/heal.

Warrior, prot = rogue never takes dmg, arms/fury - massive sustained or burst DPS

Seriously, druid, if you want to do arenas.

I leveled up with a priest and it was perfect. We are doing arenas and I gues I'm lucky to have a priest with me. But I guess we both agree it would be easier if he had a druid, which are insanely versatile.

I would strongly disagree. Druids and rogues do not synergize well, and if you find a team capable of taking out your druid, then your team will lose.

Rogue/druid is actually one of the weaker 2v2 comps IMO. Rogue/priest is actually much stronger because of the way the two classes synergize.

Either way, this thread is about leveling, not arena. I would honestly say that a mage would be the best-suited to questing and leveling with a rogue, second would probably be a shaman or a druid.

Keep in mind that most mages level as frost past level 30, so with the snare effect of frostbolt plus shatters, you'd have some pretty insane damage, plus the CC that rogues and mages have.

Reason shaman is second is because a) totems are incredibly powerful in a combat rogue's hands, and b) minor healing, and good survivability in grinding content.

Druid is third because druids and rogues are basically the same thing grinding, druids basically just have HoTs, and they're slow as hell to level until 20.

That and if you roll Horde, you'll both want to be undead, and if you roll Alliance you'll both want to be human.

Good new then! My assumption was based on how much of a PITA druids can be in arenas, but if I've got the best possible partner for 2v2, then all is good :)

Best healing partner. Smiley: tongue

I'd say best overall partner, given equal skill (and skill appropriate for 2.4k ratings) would be a ret pally, given the current climate of 2v2s.

Edit: reason you don't see more ret pally/rogue teams higher up in 2v2 is mainly because the comp is extremely new. The proliferation of dpriests also doesn't help.

I think paladin wouldn't be bad. They can heal, hold hate, etc. Paladin is a pain in the *** alone, he'd be grateful for you and never abandon you. :P

Also, then you'll have a tank or healer for instances when you need it, good thing to have.

Druid. Stealthing together for ganking is fun. Stealthing past mobs you don't need to kill saves time. Druid can heal and DPS while you kill stuff. Need a tank for a 5man? The druid. Need heals? The druid. Its pretty useful.

in PvP, Dreamstate Druid/Rogue is the best combo out there for a rogue. It's better than Rogue/Priest. It's hard to play, as its strategies are more complex than most teams, which is why you don't see it to often. There's tons of target switching and requires the Druid be very good at balancing Cyclones and Heals. I've only played it a few times and only twice past 2.2k, and man its a fun combo.

If you've ever played against Rogue/DSDruid, its insane. Pretty much the only counter is lock/rogue and that's still pretty winnable.

Plus, then you can get all the fun 3's and 5's teams with your druid. Rogue/lock/druid, Rogue/war/druid, rog/lock/priest/mage/druid.
