I have a lvl 40 Gnome Mage. I have alot of mid 30's equipment and am hitting upper 300's lower 400's. I want to hit higher as would every1 else. Here is my equipment list: Illusionary Rod, Ember Wand of the Owl, no trinkets, Reedknot Ring, Heavy Silver Ring of the Owl, Artisan's Trousers, Stonecloth Belt, Revelosh's Gloves of the Owl, Stonecloth Circlet, Thallium Choker of the Owl, Inquisitor's Shawl, Twilight capeof the Eagle, Conjurer's Robe of Frozen Wrath, Arcaned Runed Bracer's, no off-hand. Talent tree is 0/0/31. Health:1175 Mana:3033. If someone could help me with what I should keep what I can get and where I can get it from! As far as me hitting low any advice from frost mages would help too! Thank you anyone that helps!

Since it will probably help here is the link to my char sheet: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Boulderfist&n=Arramos

The armory itself has a feature that tells you the available upgrades. If you click on the upgrade, it tells you the source of the upgrade as well.

I wouldnt worry about ur gear in the 40-50s unless u plan on pvping in that range...Once u hit outlands everything u have will be replaced with stuff better than anything u get in the old world...But if u plan on pvping in 40s-50s than ya checkout armory upgrades.

I like to fully replace all my gear every 10 levels or so.

Who am I kidding, I've upgraded my warrior with 3 different new weapons in 5 levels, all with fiery or better enchants. Smiley: tongue

Since you are Frost, I'd recommend you pick up Icefury Wand. At your level, it will be really easy to get.

Other than that, just follow the upgrade guide. However, I wouldn't put too much effort in upgrades. They will come via quest rewards, crafting, and drops. Like a previous poster said, once you hit Outland (lvl 58), then you will get the good stuff. Quest rewards are really easy to get, and huge upgrades from anything you can get pre-TBC (in general).

EDIT - and I would move the 3 talent points out of Imp CoC, and into Elemental Precision. That will give you better mana efficiency and reduced resists to your spells. Nothing is worse than seeing that "Resist" pop up...

EDIT 2 - Ahhh, you don't have Ice Barrier yet? Get it ASAP. A shield that doesn't suck up your mana. Heck, you can just stand there and keep casting while a mob is pounding on you with Ice Barrier. Mana Shield is blech compared to Ice Barrer.

This is a little off the subject, but does anyone bother to put together an old world amour set? Even if a L60 was lucky enough to pick up the 5 to 8 pieces before they hit L70, is it worth it? I think it be pretty cool to have a set, but it’s too easy to move on to OL and plan on a L70 set I can’t out level.

Ive thought about it but the 70 stuff makes getting any sets in the old world just a waste of time....sad but true

Only reason I still have most of my level 60 Tier 1 raid set still is that I have a complex about never completing it back before TBC. The fact of the matter is that most quest rewards in Outland at 60 are better than it.

You can start running Zul'Farrak in your early 40s, and the items you can get from ZF are:

Zum'rah's Vexing Cane (best upgrade from Illusionary Rod)
Jumanza Grips
Bad Mojo Mask

And then once you reach your upper 40s, you can start running Sunken Temple (ST drops).

Actually, rather than looking up bosses individually, I just go here.
