I know this may sound kinda weird but I wanna start a DK at lv. 1...I think it's kinda bad to start any new toon at 50...I think starting at 1 would be a good choice because you can learn the class better...what do you guys think?

NO!

I learned my class by PvPing and instancing, solo-ing is easier than your mother.

If you start at 50, then you still have 30 levels to learn the class before you cap.

Even then you'll probably have atleast 5 instances to run before you start heroics and the higher end content. That should help with the learning curve too.

The original idea for a quest to unlock DK wasn't thrown by the wayside. They actually are keeping the idea to do just what you are describing here: let players learn the class. You will get your DK at level 55, then do a series of quests that are DK specific, and reward DK only gear, which are designed to teach the class mechanics/basics. I would hate to level a DK from 1, but the route they are going (at least for now) is a pretty good idea imo.

Levelling a Death Knight from level 1 wouldnt make any sense whatsoever. I agree with their idea of a 'Hero Class', Death Knights are supposed to be powerful already due to their former connection with the Lich King. The quest idea is nice, I really want to play an evil-themed quest area and earn Death Knight gear; you can bet the final quest gives you a badass Runeblade... which of course you will replace with the ugly Rage Reaver the minute you enter Outland :(

Taking a little ************ lore-fetishist aside here, the other classes, in general, are classe that could at least theoretically arise from the general population. Hunters, Warriors, Rogues etc are basically mercenaries and everyone has to start somewhere. Priests and Druids are equally obvious, they would perform a function in society even if they only had Rank 1 Renew.

Death Knights though... I don't really see how you could have a Level 1 Death Knight. What was he doing before he decided to go find his fortune in Outland? Trimming the hedges with his 4DPS white-quality Rune Blade?

I personally am looking forward to the RP-server Death Knight character descriptions... every emo-RP fanatic is gonna roll one, Death Knights all have a tragic and shrouded past by definition.

And they are all going to have 1 eye which they manage to portray the profound sadness in them. :)

I don't agree. It's really good to start a new character in level 50. besides, you have 30 levels in front of your journey, that will take more time than 1 to 50. I'm curious to see how will it be.... Just can't understand the part: 'You must prepare your runes before a battle'. And if I finish fighting a mob and then other appears, before i can organize runes?

I will assume that whatever Runes you have inscribed will be there until you decide to change them. This means if you kill a mob and immediately get into battle with another you will still have the Runes from the previous encounter. You just can't change them in combat, much like you can't drink while in combat.

Speculation of course, but from what all I have read, this seems like how they will work.

No.

something I think we're forgetting, to roll one, you have to have played to at least 55, and most people can play WoW adequately by then. (And then of course the starting quests to show off the new skills)

I agree with the headstart, but I wish it were a bit lower, 45 or 50 would be nice.

I agree, by this time most people should know enough about WoW to adapt to playing any other class. I don't think too many people will have a problem once the quests that teach you the basics are completed.

Actually i think that the Death Knight class starting on 50 is much better than 1 because just imagine having to level all the way from 1-80! As said before in this thread there will probably be some starting quests where you can learn your class and get gear for it. Maybe Blizzard designed it so that you'll be in your own area until or 60, or 58 and then continue into outland. If so, i think that 10 levels of specific learning quests tells me more than doing some random quests all the way up to 60. And with the time u saved from being 50 from the start u can learn even more. So to summarise, i totally agree with Blizzard starting the DK on 50 instead of 1.

ima be strait with you. starting a Death Knight at level one is most likely the worst idea i have ever heard (nothing personal). The hero class was created to let higher level players enjoy being higher level. i honestly wouldn't even role a death knight if it started at 1 or 20 or 30 maybe i would consider it if at 40 but honestly the 50 range is where its at. so the idea of starting at lv.1 is just... okay look at this. lv1--------------------------------------------------lv50 thats 49 lines each one of those lines is a line that could you would be sitting there wondering why are they making me go through this gauntlet of hell. all that time from one to fifty could have been spent going from lv50--------------------lv70. thats my take on this whole matter.

QFT.

Aside from that, the DK is supposed to be a 'hero class'. If it started at level 1 to me it would feel like just a normal class with the only requirment is that you've already done the 1-70 part on another character.

The DK starting area has been made to allow you to learn the class very quickly. You start off with all green gear and no talents and as you complete quests in the DK area you gain blue gear and talent points. You also do not start out with many more skills than a level one would start off with.

I think they did a good job teaching somebody a new class without just throwing skills at them and saying "figure it out" By the time I was down with the DK starting area I was level 57, had enough skills to survive quite well in a fight, and had a pretty good grasp on the DK class playstyle.
