tank gear rantFollow

I've now tanked Murmur 6 times, and Kalithresh 5 tiems in the last 3 weeks, and the only tank gear that has dropped for me is the shield off the first boss in Slabs.

Does anyone else think that it's a little too hard for the most gear-dependant role in the game to get decent gear?

I've been 70 for 2 weeks (running lvl 70 instances since 68) and I'm mostly in lvl 60-65 gear because NOTHING is dropping for me...

It took a huge amount of grinding to even get the instance drops I DO have from lower level instances, so this has been aproblem throughout outland for me.

Its from Theoryspot, and its a blog about gearing a new 70 to have 15k health and 16k armor asap. Lots of good info.
I would bookmark T-spot...lots of good guides, discussion, articles. A must-have site for any tank IMO.

I ended up going 1 for 14 tries on my Shoulders of the Bold from Murmur. If SL was not one of the roughest normal instances it would not be a big deal, but with IT'S FUN TIME boss, your own DPS party members can wipe a group depending how outgeared they are. The overall instance is not hard, but that fight and the voidwalker boss can be rough depending on luck of the void walker placement. So I feel your pain on that one.

The shield, eh, I'd suggest running Mech for the chest off the 2nd boss (fire element lady), I went 1 for 10'ish on that one. I know it's a chest... but with exaulted with Shatt there's a really nice starter epic shield you can get. Might want to try that route.

I can't remember much being in Heroics for us (me) anyway. The Suneater off Mech's final boss, and the Bracers (*edit* may be a belt... can't remember) off Ramps... think that's all I had when I entered KZ for my 1st time. Once you get into a KZ guild, get some T4 badges/boss + trash drops Heroics will be cake.

You can rely on instances to get gear, however doing instance quests is the only way you are 100% guaranteed to get gear. For all classes, there is never a guarantee that the boss will drop your stuff. If you are unlucky, you may never see what you are after.

I still believe that the King's Defender doesn't exist. I've ran Kara for badges like 10 times in the last months, and have not seen it once. Noted i do not need it, but it's nice to see my off-tank get some better gear once in a while.

Boots of elusion never seem to drop either, he is one sad panda.

actually had a guildie (and my hunter's kara group MT) get the king's defender just last week. he was thrilled, to say the least

Murmur never dropped the shoulders for my Warrior after 10ish attempts (I was trying to get these back when they were one of the few good options for Kara gear).
Took 15 runs with my hunter to get the Spear.
Got the Shammy/Pally Shield and the Tidefury Kilt on my first run with my Shammy. GG.
