Just started need some adviceFollow

So I just started on WoW, a few days ago and almost lvl 20. Pretty much got the fighting styles down but seem to have a hard time finding any good armor and melee weapons for my level. Current weapon is the right hth weapon with 7 dps from darnassus. Also having trouble finding any quests which result in gear upgrades, so far any quests I've done mostly give me merchant fodder.

Most quest rewards aren't all that great...

The fun thing is that you just hit level 20. Stop looking at Damage or DPS on a weapon, as you'll probably be playing in bear or cat forms from now on, and weapon DPS has NO effect on your damage. Aim for items with stamina, strength, and agility.

If you've managed to get some gold, go to the auction house and buy some good gear for yourself. If you haven't, take up mining and go mine copper for a few hours. Sell it on the auction house before you go to bed, and wake up the next day with 10 gold in your mail.

Then go buy some equipment off the AH.

As said, look for STATS now on items, NOT DPS.

If you're playing as a caster, well, life will be harder. Go for Intellect and Stamina, and get ready for a tough ride for a while.

Also,

when it comes to upgrades from quests, really only group quests will net you much good stuff until you reach level 60. If you can do group quests, you should get some decent stuff. Also, around your level you can head to Westfall and run Dead Mines to get some good gear. However, life is tough at 20 for a druid tank against Van Cleef (a level 25? elite... he might be 23?).

Tagging on to LockeColeMA's advice (all of which I second), shopping at the Auction House will be expensive if this is your first character. Take 2 gathering professions (skinning and either herbalism or mining), and take up fishing if you have time (an excellent source of income at mid-levels). Sell all your skins, herbs, ores, etc. at the auction house. As a druid you can put off first aid for a while, since you won't have much downtime anyway if you're leveling feral, and sell all your cloth as well. Some white items you get off mobs, like spider's silk, sell for a surprising amount at auction as well, so check those sorts of things for the going rate on your server - auction anything you can make more then vendor prices for.

All this stuff will net you plenty of money for your first mount at 40 and buying eq as you go. My advice, though, don't get too crazy with it. You really don't need to upgrade your gear all that often while leveling up, maybe every 7-10 levels.

Good to hear you are having fun Erojwr!

I also second LokecolaMA and Teacake's input and would only add....get bags early.

Through a friend or guildy, grab some decent sized bags. This cuts down on the frequency of your trips to vendors/AH to make room for more nice gear drops!

Happy Hunting!
