What kind of gear I need for Black Temple? restoFollow

just curious. I'm still a ways away. But I want to plan ahead. If I need badges for certain gear. I don't want to blow them. Though I'm currently down to 1 badge :). I still want to buy the new badge item chest piece. But after that I'll have most of the badge item resto gear. Except the shield. Sadly, I need a shield. As shields haven't dropped for me in Kara or ZA. It's embarassing having 2200 healing and all this awesome equipment, but using a crappy blue shield you can find in the AH (crystal pulse fyi). But I digress. The badge shield is kinda crappy, and there are better things I want to spend badges on. I'd lose 6 mp5 with the badge shield. And it has 3 less int than the crystal pulse shield.

Anyways my point is do I need fire resist gear at all? Or do only tanks need it? I noticed you can buy fire resist stuff at the old badge vendor in shat, that's why I ask. And what kind of healing and mp5 should I be at? What about health and mana?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

The sunwell badge gear is really good. Those pieces sandwiched between some T5 should be more than enough to get you to BT.

Nope, just the two offtanks for Illidan do. You will eventually need shadow resist, but the crafted gear requires a BT/hyjal mat so it's usually taken care of in-guild. If the guild's having trouble, you can help them out by farming heroic mana tombs for The Fel Barrier

...what kind of healing...

2000 is a nice round number that lets you downrank if needed. Become friends with chain heal rank 4. At some point and for some fights, you'll find that you're no longer having mana problems. When this happens, focus on upgrading just your +heals (and eventually haste)--you can always benefit from +heals due to downranking, but there is a soft cap on the benefit of m/5.

...mp5...

Highly depends if you have a spriest in your group or not. For argument's sake 140 w/o water shield is a good number, but you can fudge it one way or the other for +heals if needed.

What about health...

Take what's on your gear, but for some fights you want to be able to reach 10,000 even if you need to swap in a PvP piece or two. The first boss is a good example where you'll need health gear.

mana

Around 10,000 is acceptable but don't go out of your way for it; just take whatever's on the gear normally. Fights here are long enough where m/5 outpaces INT in terms of effectiveness.

[spell haste]

You didn't mention it, but stay away from haste until your other stats are squared away. The effects of haste aren't really that noticeable until you have a fair amount of it, and it does hurt your mana regen. Start acquiring a set, but you'll probably only want to use it for trash when you're starting out. Use common sense, of course: if a piece with haste is a huge upgrade, still use it.

Sadly, I need a shield.

I used the badge shield for a long time, but it does indeed suck for us. Mag's shield is still one of the best in the game for us and the encounter's pretty easy now, so I suggest trying for that one.
