I don't consider Starcraft an MMO... nor do I consider Diablo or Diablo II to be MMOs... so we won't count them.
My first ever MMO was Ultima Online. Though, I did play a bunch of MUSHes, MUXen, and MUDs back in the day. Anyway, I didn't play UO for long because I was addicted to these text-based games.
The first MMO that REALLY caught me hardcore was Earth and Beyond. Due to school, work, and fiance, I only got my Jenquai Explorer to level 85, but it was an awesome ride. It was really the only game that I think has EVER done crafting right. You used raw materials to build components to build items. You could also BREAK DOWN existing items for components. Items also had a grade.. if you were quite a bit more skilled than necessary to craft Item X, it would potentially have a bonus, up to I think 200% of normal. Ah.. E&B, I miss you so.
I dabbled in Anarchy Online back then a bit, was in the Beta test for The Sims Online and The Matrix Online, played a little bit of the end of the WoW beta, then got hooked on Lineage II for a little over 2 years. That game will destroy your soul. I've played some CoH/V, EVE... aw hell, I'm just gonna list.
Ultima Online
Earth and Beyond (Beta & Live)
The Sims Online (Beta)
The Matrix Online (Beta)
Lineage II (Beta & Live)
City of Heroes
City of Villains
Dungeons and Dragons Online (Beta)
World of Warcraft (Beta & Live)
Auto Assault (Beta)
Guild Wars
Lord of the Rings Online (Beta)
Tabula Rasa (Beta)
Exteel (Beta)
I've also played Second Life for awhile... but I don't consider it to be the same as any of the others, since it's just social.
Jeez.. I've played or tested lots of games...
