How does this rune thing work? Will we have to carry 5/6/10 runes in our backpack? Will we have to buy certain frost/blood/etc at the trainer and only have one kind? How will they be activated? like sockets in spells?

Maybe i missed something (or i'm just plain stupid) but I just dont get it!?

As far as I know, it works somewhat like a Rogue's energy bar... but with three of them, and you can adjust how big each of them is.

For example, if you inscribe two blood, two frost and one unholy rune you'd have three 'energy' bars. Each (interval to be determined), each energy bar gets 20% of its total possible charge back. Different abilities drain from different bars, but adjusting how many runes are inscribed of each type will determine which abilities you can use and how quickly they'll recharge.

Of course the presentation may well be different - for example, instead of three energy bars each rune will show a % charge or just light up when available and abilities will cost a full rune or more per use, but that was the jist of it.

Of course, it's all subject to change blah blah blah.

Do you reckon the UI that the Death Knight had for his unit frames at BlizzCon might be adapted into the default? With the sort-of sword background? That'd be awesome.

i think how it works is your going to pick which runes you want available to you. then when you use that rune, it has a cooldown with it. maybe something like 1 rune will reactivate every 10 seconds in the order they were used.

supposedly theres also going to be an ability to convert runes on the fly, but it will probably be cooldown based.

An similar example is the Invokers "spells" in DoTA, for those who knows what I'm talking about.
For example: blood rune + unholy rune + frost rune=spell x that will have the duration based on the power of the blood rune, the dmg based on unholy rune, and the chance to hit let's say on the frost rune.
Or maybe a what I talk here is utterly crap.

I think the runes work on a cooldown system, not a normal resource system. So if each rune has a cooldown of 10 seconds, and there's 5 runes, so if you have 1x frost, 2x unholy, and 2x blood, you can use a frost spell and wait 10 seconds, or use an unholy spell twice in 10 seconds, etc.

I also think that if anything, the runes won't take up much space. It seems to me to be more of an ability (you just etch them into your sword or something like that) that may take up 1 slot with an item (e.g. box of runes), rather than actually having the runes. If they do take up space, likely they will stack to 20 or so, so you only use up 3 slots.
