DPS dagger question :: Free Realms

I'm going to really show my nubness...expecting rate-downs.

S1 Dagger MH tooltip DPS is 212.3, but dmg on the shanker is 131-197 1.8 speed.
Mutilator OH tooltip DPS is 168.1, but dmg on the mutilator is 130-241 1.8 speed.

Both have mongoose, why the difference?

I believe it is because your OH attacks suffer a 50% damage penalty unless you are specced into DW spec in which case it will do 75% normal damage.

The mutilator has a raw dps of 103.1. Without DW spec that is 51.55 raw dps. Specced into DW spec that is 77.325 raw dps. If you had an equivalent MH dps weapon it would remain 103.1 dps because your main hand suffers no penalties.

For PvE Mutilate, is it better to have a slow or fast OH?

Slow. The damage gained on mutilates offsets the slight reduction in poison procs.

I tested this and it's correct. I noticed immediately during trash mobs the difference in just crits that hit. With both S1 weapons - mutilate crit for 2.5-2.8k, with Mutilator off hand it landed over 3k.

If you get the gear to sustain 4+/4+/4+ without dropping SnD or Rupture, using Envenom as a third finisher can be worthwhile, in which case you want a fast offhand to restack poisons. At least that's what I got last time I skimmed EJ, but it's been a few weeks.
