S4 gear is up on the PTR. Looks like again, S4 feral druid bracers are better than S4 rogue bracers.

Also, we may be having a debate about boot enchants, as we've gained 15 hit on our gear alone, and 2 on weapons (though how many of us will be getting weapons realistically?)

Here are the two sets I'm talking about.

Rogue S4

Feral S4

Also, S3 will cost 1500 arena points for head/chest/legs, 1200 for shoulders, and 900 for gloves in S4.

To recap for people that missed it, here are the requirements for the S4 gear, including honor gear:

Head - 1700
Neck - None
Shoulders - 2200
Chest - 1600
Bracers - 1575
Gloves - None
Belt - None
Legs - 1550
Boots - 1700
Ring - 1650
Trinket - None
Weapons - 2050

S3 weapons and shoulders will be brought down 50 rating to purchase, to 1800 for weapons, and 1950 for shoulders.

Jeez, could the gear look any worse? Looks like a bunch of light bright creatures with saggy mouths.

How is this leather armor? I think Blizzard must have a certain disdain for the playerbase. 'lets see what other horrible things we can make them wear!'

sadists.

Thanks for the info. I hope my toon doesn't look as retarded as the one pictured. Human males never do the sets any justice.

Hope you're not undead; we look even worse.

I think I'll be changing the looks of my toon to a night elf or a gnome when I've got my S4.

Christ that Rogue outfit looks retarded.

Doesn't look like leather at all. Not very Roguish either (dark, scary, mysterious)

I thought I read somewhere that offhands would have no requirement.

True? Or was I asleep and dreaming?

The best Rogue armor sets, in my opinion, are the Bloodfang and Assassination sets. Rogues shouldn't be wearing large plate armorish sets with spikes and glowing thingies. They're not freakin' transformers, they're scoundrels.

Bonescythe > Assassination (Assasination is basically recoloured bonescythe with less daggers). Lore wise, the regal look only really fits for human rogues (who are often lords, such as Ravenholdt) but who cares. It still looks stealthy, although cowls > all other kinds of head gear.

If Slayer didn't have some ******** head and had a proper cowl then it'd look brilliant. Better than Bloodfang? Probably not, but it'd probably take 3rd place for me (after Bonescythe and Bloodfang).

Nightslayer had potential but the "bra" shoulders ruin it for me, even though they are lol.

I personally like T5, although I'd like it more if the dagger sheaths on the shoulders actually had daggers in them. They ruined it on the arena set recolour, though.

T4 is OK in concept, but the colour scheme makes it look shiny, like something out of Planetside.

That was some tangent.

TBH I hate T2. I had to stare at it on my rogue for something like a year.

I love T3 and T5, and I totally agree with you Kavekk, T6 would look amazing if it didn't have the incredibly gay helm (which is why I hide my helm in PvP gear).

I honestly think that simple is better when it comes to rogue gear. Just make us look like ******* sweet ninjas and I think everyone would be happy.

I have to say that the single worst piece of gear any Rogue has ever had to wear is the Helm of the Claw...

I have my helm graphics off, and have had them off for over 6 months because I haven't gotten anything better than it yet.

T2 looks terrible... the cowl is not bad, but the rest of is is so 'blah'.

T5 is pretty cool and T6 is awesome if you go /nohelm.

Too funny. Yeah, I've kind of given up on getting a look that I like. And even when there are looks that others in the game seem to like, I don't. Even when I can finally where something better than helm of the claw I'll be keeping my helm hidden, I imagine. I do not go for the giant ugly shaped grim reaper masks. I want my ghost shroud back. Waaaa Smiley: cry

warning! incoming nublet question...

Okay, I have the dps spreadsheet from rogue.raid.com and I plug my shadowstep sub spec and enter all my gear...

When I enter S4 leather bracers and stick a +16ap red gem into the socket the spreadsheet says it's better than the dragonhide with the same enchant and gem. I lose the socket bonus since I'm putting a red gem into a yellow socket in the leather bracers but the overall dps goes up a fraction.

Can someone explain why I should use the dragonhide bracers vs the leather one?

The itemization has changed slightly since I posted this thread; basically, Blizzard reads what rogues post, and when they found out that leather S4 was worse than dragonhide S4, they changed itemization.

The reason most people choose dragonhide over leather is simple: we don't know how high we're going to need to stack resilience for cheat death.

With dragonhide giving 4 more resilience than leather (socketing red gems, as you should be), it's fairly obvious which is the better choice. I'll gladly give up ~10 AP (which I have 1999 of with only 4 pieces of S4 gear) for a bit more crit and resilience, especially if that means I don't have to use a S3 ring in addition to the S4.

BTW, sorting your PvP gear out by spreadsheet is really incredibly stupid. DPS doesn't matter in PvP.

okay, thanks Theo for clearing that up. And yeah I just got in the habit of using the spreadsheet for pve but thought I could use it for pvp as well. /faceplam
