Ok I'm getting the itch to respec for fun, after running as a bear for almost 1 year straight. My thought is to try out a restokin build - a heavy ranged DPS chicken that can also heal. I did a talent build and came up with this:

    Balance (34 points)

Starlight Wrath - Rank 5/5
Control of Nature - Rank 3/3
Focused Starlight - Rank 2/2
Improved Moonfire - Rank 2/2
Insect Swarm - Rank 1/1
Nature's Reach - Rank 2/2
Vengeance - Rank 5/5
Lunar Guidance - Rank 3/3
Nature's Grace - Rank 1/1
Moonglow - Rank 1/3
Moonfury - Rank 5/5
Dreamstate - Rank 3/3
Moonkin Form - Rank 1/1

    Restoration (27 points)

Improved Mark of the Wild - Rank 5/5
Nature's Focus - Rank 5/5
Intensity - Rank 3/3
Subtlety - Rank 4/5
Improved Rejuvenation - Rank 3/3
Gift of Nature - Rank 5/5
Empowered Touch - Rank 2/2

Is this the right setup? Also, as a restokin, should I use healing gear (heavy on +healing, light on spell damage) or use a more spell damage-centric gear (equal parts healing and spell damage)?

Restokin advice appreciated!

P.S. I'm excited about switching. I leveled Balance from 1 thru 70 and it will be nice to be a crit chicken from hell again.

Get rid of Improoved Mark of wild and go with Furor. The extra rage boost is way more helpfull for solo'ing compared to the IMP MOW, which is quite weak. Other than that I pretty much use the same build and do ok with it in PVE and the occational PVP (mostly spam wrath.) Haven't run any heroics yet since my gear is barely up to 70 snuff in the first place.

Also if you don't get Omen of Clarity I will never read one of your posts again! It makes that much of a difference! ;) Especially in those "oh S%@*" situations where multiple forms are required for survival. My omen of clarity procs pretty often as a Moonkin as I have high avoidance when using wrath, and I just spam away at the person within melee range.
Wow Wiki has the best suggestions for the type of Moonkin build you will find most effective.

Edit - Forgot what the talent was opposed to Imp. M.O.W.

I take it you primarily pve?

I am a pvp restokin and wear all resto gear (+heal) apart from 4 items which are balance (+ spell damage). Note that the +damage you get from healing gear isnt too far behind equivalent balance gear.

As I say, I pvp (rarely ever enter an instance nowadays) so my talents are going to be different to yours, but just so you know I currently run :http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=0tIMzbIRGuZZVMILcq .

With this build, stacking intellect is much more viable than normal resto.

IM a raiding crittin chiken and as for OoC I used it alot as a feral druid, but now that i raid i never get into melee range unless i pull aggro which usually means the tank is dead and im dieing soon after so OoC to me is a wasted point for a raiding Doomkin
