on the 2.4.2 PTR, one of the new developments is that unique mainhand weapons have now lost their unique tags and can be equipped in the offhand. for those of you that are macesmiths, that means that you can dual wield dragonstrike. now:

1) does the haste proc truly stack? i've seen a screenshot of a troll shaman dual wielding dragonstrike, with two haste procs appearing at the top right hand corner of the screen.

2) if it does stack, will dual wielding these puppies yield more or comparable dps than going with the badge fists? at my gear level, every 10 haste rating ~ 3-4 dps. 212 haste rating = 60ish dps over 10 seconds, so averaged over 60 seconds = ? sorry, i am at work and basically brain dead waiting to go on my break, quite incapable of maths atm.

0) You will not be able to dual wield them, since it is still Unique. You can use it with a Dragonmaw as your other weapon, though.

1) Currently it does stack. I expect this to be one of the things that Blizzard overlooks when it makes a sweeping generalized change like this. Expect there to be an internal cooldown in 2.4.3 (or maybe hotfixed in earlier, who knows)

2) With how well Haste can scale, it would be extremely good. I don't have the exact math though.

so, MH weapons are now definitely one-hand, and the unique tag has been removed so dragonstrike is definitely dual-wieldable. however, now i am reading from EJ that the haste proc no longer stacks, but instead refreshes. assuming there is no internal cooldown on the haste proc, will dual-wielded dragonstrikes still present a feasible alternative to dual wielding vanir's fists (or s3 weapons)? i have 56 badges atm, and am trying to decide whether to get the extra 4 to buy the angelista's revenge with the armor penetration i need, or the slower vanir's fist to replace akil'zon's talonblade. when haste and flurry are both active, i can get my mainhand swinging at 1.8s speed due to the amount of haste i have (60ish iirc).

using some very quick and idealistic math that only takes into account white hits, with my example of haste proc+flurry: if you could keep up the haste proc indefinitely over a 1 minute period and maintain a 1.8s swing speed, you would increase dps to 146.3. using vanir's right fist of brutality with the same swing speed of 1.8s, you get a dps of 143. i am assuming the difference is from dragonstrike's weapon damage being slightly higher than the fists.

Right now I can get my weapon speed to 1.55/1.45 with Dragonstrike proc, dragonspine trophy proc and mongoose on my off hand(the badge offhand fist weapon). Granted it doesn't last that long, but without in internal cooldown on dragonstrikes haste proc, I'm deffinately gonna make another to try DWing them and see how often I can get the haste. With raid buffed AP reaching 4100+ and 33% crit....I can only imagine the benefit from longer haste :D

preliminary spreadsheet testing with all white hits, 0% dodge/miss, no WF and no instant attacks, only about 40% uptime was achieved, and theorycrafting has shown that 60% haste+flurry uptime is necessary to trump a combination of s3 weapon and mounting vengeance. real-world testing has yet to be attempted.

smdked - if you go ahead and make another dragonstrike for testing, please don't have your DST equipped, go whale on one of those mobs in blasted lands and parse your combat log.

I was thinking of doing this last night when i noted they removed the unique flag from it.

If the haste bonus doesn't stack would it be more beneficial to throw a mongoose on the OH? Or to dump another executioner on it?

well, I got to crunching some numbers and it just doesn't seem worth it... not much of a benefit from both dragonstrikes. Just better off getting equipment with haste rating on it, 2 of the new items should be enough to out do what you would get from the addition of one more dragonstrike... So I'll stick to stacking armor penetration and haste :)

well, it seems that dual badge fists are still the best weapon combo pre-glaives. would be a different story if the haste procs stacked.

Well, I did it. I now have 2 Dragonstrikes. And I pull threat much more now...I found I have to wait a few more seconds before diving in on trash pulls. Yeah, the haste proc is up a TON:) which explains the quick threat spike. Not really tested it in raid yet, I did end up with 1798 DPS on Illhoof though :P . I'm gonna see how it goes in TK tonight, I usually average about 1k dps without WF, so I'll keep you anxious ppl posted :D
