So I was doing Dailies the other day and had a handful of Strong Junkboxes thanks to my PP macro. Started opening them to clear out bag space and found one Contained a Star of Elune. Other than the one or two times I got a trash green item, this is by far my best loot from a junk box.
Anyone else get anything cool?

I got a junkbox out in Shadowmoon Valley while farming scryer rep items. Had the box in my bags for a few hours before I opened it and found this bad boy. I put it up on AH and was 750g richer by the end of they day, and needless to say I have never neglected my pickpocketing since then :P
Pattern:Core Felcloth Bag. Sold it to some rich, nostalgic raider for like 1200g. Now I'm trying to get him to make my lock one xD
Since my rogue has enough junkboxes to get the last 5 points (Firecrotch is 69, LP is 345) I've stopped picking mobs but see the lootz above, I'll start doing it again.

I just never changed my macros out, but as you said, this is a great reason not to. Plus all the spare change and vendor trash you get helps, if just a little. Plus you can always read a Steamy Romance Novel when you are bored. =)

I had never gotten anything good from any lockboxes so once my LP skill was maxed out, I started mailing all my extra lockboxes to a guildie to help them. I wonder if they ever got anything good out of them? lol
But I do continue to pickpocket and recently got a Star of Elune off some trash mob and a Living Ruby from the packet of free gems from the consortium ppl in Nagrand :)

I have found the occasional green gem or alchemy recipe. There's also the humorous grey junk.
Just got a Noble Topaz from pickpocketing in AV (I know, right?) needless to say that sucker went right into my vindicator's neck that I got the honor for the same game.
On the terrace outside BT, farming Scryers rep.
Strong Junkboxes were piling up so I went through them without really paying attention. Saw a flash of purple and ended up with Spinesever (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=34622;source=live)
That and the Blinkstrike that dropped the same day payed for my 'gooses and somemore.
Haven't had the same luck since that day.

I'm only 66, but i got a few Noble Topaz from junkboxes, and every now and then ill get a random green item.
Not a Junkbox but when I pickpocketed a mob in TK: The Eye earlier I swear I saw a purple...or I could be losing my mind.

hmmm....I've been wondering.
I've often heard comments that seem to assume it matters where and/or when you got the box and maybe it does. But I kind of thought it was just a roll at the moment you opened the box with the main determining factor being the type of box being opened.
Does anyone know how the game does the job of deciding what is in a box?

Mob PP loot/loot is decided when the mob is spawned. It's unclear if lockbox loot works the same way, but I think we can assume so.

This. Also some green rings, Super Healing Potions and a blue gem once or twice. And tons of Blinding Powder in the old days!
The Spinesevers and Night Blades were probably in all those boxes that appeared in the looting screen but never got into my bags, due to lag or whatever it is.
