If you want to heal, go Holy.

If you want to DPS, stay Shadow.

From what I've seen, Disc is primarily for PvP, but there are some nice talents in there to supplement the Holy tree for healing.

Actually a mixture of disc and holy is very common for a healer. Typical healbots either have disc though Improved divine spirit, or enough holy to get circle of healing. Either one works.

Going deep disc with pain suppression is more for pvp, but you can certainly still heal with that spec.

I personally wouldn't be respecing too often. I'd use the spec that I enjoyed and suited the majority of what I wanted to do.

A few posts down is a great thread on endgame healing specs:

This really just comes down to the playstyle that you want to adopt. I assure you that the playstyle and utility of a shadow priest is considerably different than that of a warlock, which I'm sure you have already noted.

You can readily succeed in battleground PvP with whatever spec you choose for PvE. You will be missing a few nice PvP tools, but it is rarely dramatic or game-changing. Arena can be a bit of a different creature, and as others have noted, the survivability of discipline-oriented builds is most desired in high-end Arena. This is simply because the healer/dispeller becomes the tank in Arena, something with which you do not have to contend in PvE.

As for choosing your spec, it's really your call. Holy and shadow are totally different creatures. I would advise, with either route you choose, you have a supportive guild behind you. Little is worse than PuG'ing for groups and finding the spec you are is not needed in groups on a given day.

Hope this helps, and feel free to shoot any other my/our way.
