i see most strats call for two druids to tank hydross' adds while wearing mixed frost/nature resist gear. can a warrior do this? we are getting lurker down to 5% with some dps still being in a few blues and greens, so i figure we will be taking hydross on very soon. however, we only have one druid tank available, had two others but they respecced to boomkin.

Yes, Warriors can tank Hydross adds. We always had one Druid take the DPS add while I (as DPS spec) controlled the other three, and then he'd taunt them off me and the DPS zerged that one down.

Get the full set of one of the plate resist items (I had the Nature Resist set), then supplement with greens "Of Frost Resistance" (or vice versa) and aim for 490 Defense to boot, but it's not essential for the adds.

Depending on how you do it, you really don't even need resist for your add tanks. The way we did it was two MT's (one at any one time) and 2 offtanks. At any one time, we have 1 tank on Hydross and 3 on the adds. The three tanks pull the adds to Hydross, wait about 10 seconds, and then the locks and mages unleash AoE. The adds aren't alive long enough for resist to be a problem (at most we have 2 people in resist, usually one or none), and the tanks are stacked on top of each other so PoM, Chain, and CoH can easily keep them up. Plus the enrage timer is a non-issue, even when we first started we had 2-3 minutes left on enrage when he died.

If your tanking the adds you want a mix of frost and nature resistances. there are 4 great pieces for each set the 3 from smithing and the JC rings. Having 2 pieces from each plus other classes to support your resistances should be plenty. Like a pally for frost aura and a hunter for aspect. Also shammy totems work well, and an extra 35 resist from mark/gift of the wild.

We take Hydros with 2 prot wars as MTs I do the pure phase the other tainted. Then use a pally for the adds works nicely. The resist tank on his off phase plays centerfield and picks up an add if the pally loses it and brings it back to hydros for the aoe spam.

my guild currently used two full resist prot warriors (365 frost and nature resist) to tank Hydross (i'm full nature)
for the adds we use a warrior and a druid both in a mixed set (the druid has some AH frost greens i think)the warrior grabs one, the druid grabs two, and the tank that is coming off the switch of hydross grabs the far corner one.

we have all DPS focus the one that the full resist tank grabs (while the off tanks gather and clump the rest in the middle for AOEing)

if you have capable tanks that can handle the switch, and a capable DPS team that knows when to "stop" DPSing its really an easy fight.

over the weekend someone gave me a tip and told me to use those low level swiftness pots for the tank exchange and it worked amazingly well.
(have someone announce the tank swap with approximately 10 seconds left, pop a swiftness pot, turn and run to the tank waiting.)

good luck

ps: make sure you all have a Flask of Chromatic Wonder handy. they work awesome, there is also some +8 all resistance food as well.
