Hi.

I'm starting a rogue on a server, playing ALLIANCE, and i was wondering which race is the best for arenas.

Would love some pointers.

Human.

Perception, huge advantage vs any team with a Rogue or Druid, especially in 2v2 or 3v3.

Human or Gnome. Escape Artist is a great racial that allows you to save your CoS on things like Frost Nova and Roots, but Perception is also very nice against stealthers.

That's your first problem.

Human....nothing other than Human. I lost at least 5 games last night, b/c either the human popped perception and we had to wait it out, to which they initiated and won, or they pulled me out, CC'd, same result.

Tbh, I would give up WotF in a heartbeat for Perception.

Perception is OP in arena.

Escape artist is OP in certain cases ...

Depends on the situation, but sadly, overall, the UGGGLLLYY looking human males are winning ........

(Yes. They are ugly)

Thanks for your answers.

I was thinking about either gnome or human, and it seems human is the most popular.

And to ThomasMagnum, i know Undead's WotF is great, but I'm gonna play Alliance since my friends are :D

This.

Perception is undeniably the most powerful racial in the game in 2v2 and 3v3.

Heheh, I never thought I'd see the day when people with WotF would say someone else's Racial Ability was OP...

Perception is still crap in every other aspect of the game though, you need to know specifically when to use it and have a small area to cover. (20 sec duration, 3 min cooldown)

To think I rolled human rogue for the now utterly nerfed bonus while using swords...

Er... 5 Expertise is way, way better then +1% crit...

It used to be bonus skill levels if I'm not mistaken...

Yeah, it used to be +5 skill

Skill levels > Expertise

Uh, no, not really.

Expertise is a way better stat for rogues than weapon skill ever was.

Is it even possible to have 355/350 weapon skill?

+5 expertise = 19.5 expertise rating at lvl 70 > +5 weapon skill.

I was looking at it from a Raid point of view, where the expertise only helps the dodge chance by 1.25% (shouldn't be getting parried).
But Weapon Skill used to (still might, who knows) help with glancing blows...
It also *used to* give a straight white damage boost.

But I'm going extremely off-topic since this was a PvP discussion, and I apologize =P

Well, when Shard is the third best trinket in the game over stuff that drops in BT (only two things better are DST and BNS), I think it's safe to say you're either under-estimating the usefulness of expertise or overestimating the usefulness of weapon skill.

Because I certainly never geared for weapon skill, though I find myself running MgT over and over and over and over and over again until I get that effing trinket.

I agree with you that Expertise is better than Weapon Skill now, Weapon Skill itself was nerfed. I think that before the nerfed Weapon Skill, and removed it as a racial trait, it did more than the 5 Expertise does now.

Yeah, but it's been a looong time since that change. Smiley: tongue
