Firstly, read the stickies in this forum as they should have specific information on recommended leveling specs.

The Warrior is a very gear-dependant class, meaning if your gear isn't up to par, you will most likely feel the effects, especially at lower levels. This is most likely the majority of your "death" problem, but could also stem from lack of knowledge of the class, talent spec, or even just being new to the game in general.

Some more information, such as your current talent spec, level, and your name and server so we can look up your armory stats might help us better help you.
#3REDACTED, Posted: Apr 29 2008 at 9:18 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'm currently rerolling a warrior. I found it's best to always keep up to date weapons. For leveling I also suggest go 2H Fury spec. Don't run instances as they are a waste of time unless you can get a 70 to run you through. Piercing Howl + Intimidating Shout = live long time.

I 100% disagree with this statement.

Instances are a great place to learn how to tank, they're great for learning to deal with a group, and you often get the best gear from them. Learning how to make it through an instance with characters of the "right" level will help you a ton when you get to 70 and people expect you to be able to run smoothly with a group.

Not that you should spend all of your time in instances (slower leveling), but it's a great way to learn.

I agree with tabstopper Sage, not only that but you can make good money, I as a warrior myself have learned alot from instances and thus when i run them i go feeling rested to get more xp.

please don't take dumb advice like this. having someone run you through an instance does absolutely nothing to make you a better player. case in point ->

a warrior who uses fear as a normal part of their rotation = a bad warrior.

instances is where the true learning happens, as well as very good loot and lots of XP. gear is what you probably need to focus on, and dual wield fury is generally considered the quickest/easiest leveling spec.

He's a new player trying to learn the game. Not some alt who wants to hit 70 in a month. Right now he's struggling and keeps dying, faster for him means being able to survive. Learning the game mechanics is a good way to start if you want to get better and level faster.

Chase if you want to follow these nooblets advice and run instances go for it but I guaruntee it will take twice as long to level. When you hit 2 months before these noobs then you can learn to tank the non heroics etc if that's what you want to do. Personally I play a warrior to stomp on people in PvP.

Granted it is faster to quest then PuG instances for most people but if you can get a solid group of friends together, I garantee you can rack in some pretty crazy xp.

Just the other night in Maraudon on our lvl 45 alts we were averaging 36K/hour for 2 hours and 20+K for completing a few of the quest in there. Half of it was spent afk or just talking, we're very casual. If you can get 100+K xp in 2 hours solo questing at lvl 45, you should write a guide cause you're really good.

Add to that the obvious advantage of being inside an instanced zone on a PvP server and you just made your xp/hour go up compared with questing.

To the OP:

Like Meatballsub said, read the stickies. There's really good information for a new player. It would really help if you would tell us a bit more also. What lvl are you? is warrior your first character in WoW or did you try some other class before? Do you have problem with specific situation or you simply can't survive a fight against a single mob of your lvl?

Tell us more and we'll be happy to help you out. And don't listen to that other guy I quoted. Not only instances will get you some nice xp, teach you a lot about the game and can get you the best gear but it can be a lot of fun also. That's what it's all about right?

Instances are actually a great way to gain experience and can speed up your leveling process, especially if you go into one with a bunch of quests.

Added to this being a warrior and therefore a potential tank he should have few problems getting instance groups.

By the time you hit 70 you should already know how to do your job. The level 70 instances are far less forgiving than the leveling instances and require at least a passing knowledge of how to play your class in a group, especially if you intend to tank (as the OP may) or heal.

He didn't, but he's clearly new to the game and instances are a great place to learn what your class and others are capable of.

Then again, you told him to avoid instances altogether, which is just stupid. Many of the people on my friend list are from instance runs I've done.

When he gets to 70 and doesn't know how *any* CC work, how to tank and hold aggro, or what to do in a group ... yeah, he'll be SO much better than if he ran a few instances and took an extra week to get 70.

Hey nooblets

Aww, is someone get upset about being sub-defaulted on their first post?

OP, if you're questing and keep dying it's probably a combination of needing new gear and not controlling who and what you're fighting. At lower levels, warriors struggle against multiple mobs. Try to keep your fights to one on one and you'll probably do a lot better. Read the stickies on this forum to get some basic info on how to play the class and keep trying; the class improves a lot with age.

How's that working out for you, scrub-bubble?

Here's a sum: Avoid instances = level faster, no argument can be made
run instances = learn to tank

Not all warriors want to tank.

Kovoas = Bad advice

Instances = better gear
better gear = easier questing
easier questing = faster leveling

And Arms and fury warriors like to PvE too.

kovos, after painfully lvling my warr to 65 ish... i tanked my way faster to 70 in instances...

and pretty much have most of my pre-kara blues ready way before i was attuned...

instances gives 2 bonus... gear and experience (well 3... if you count xp points as well as personal player experience...)

As I said before; It is usually better to quest than PuG instances if what you want is level fast but you can get a lot more xp/hour running instances if you have a good group. Even more if you play on a PvP server and factor in the wasted time getting ganked when solo questing.

Learning to tank is one thing but you will learn a lot more than just how to tank by running instances. Learning about the threat mechanics, resistance, line of sight, etc... will help you level faster in the long run.

While you will be expected to tank as a warrior more often than not, you will still find a DPS spot if DPS is what you want to do.

I can't speak as a warrior but pugging instances really teaches you what to do or not do when the $*^% hits the fan. Also most people forget that pugs can be as good as they as they can be bad. Unfortunatly it doesn't happen as often as the latter.
#17 May 01 2008 at 1:15 PM Rating: Default
I usually have really good pugs. It's when you get some scrub tank/heals that you notice your pug starts to suck.

Also wowarmory helps to make bad pugs non-existant, that 10 seconds it takes to armory someone can save an hour inside an instance. Generally i only take people with full epics, Blizzard has made it quite easy to attain a fully purple character within like a week of hitting 70. The people that do not take the time to make themselves good enough, will not get invites :(.

The worst is when you Pug kara/ZA, if something goes wrong there, your basically out of luck for a week, because you get insta-saved. So i am even more picky on those. Normal heroics no big deal because you have to slay a boss before you get saved, so you get a good 10 min feel for your party.

The worst is when you join a party and the warrior has like 9000 health. /facepalm
