How important IS +hit in lower end raids?Follow

#1 Apr 28 2008 at 2:24 PM Rating: Decent
Hello everyone. I've finally got my act together, and started raiding Kara a bit. I've done a few bosses, including Attune, Curator, Aran and the chest event, but I've yet to become hit capped. My question is, is it really that important to be hit capped for a hunter starting Kara? I'm assuming i don't absolutely HAVE to have it for this particular raid, unlike others like Gruul, where top DPS is a MUST.

Regardless of how important it is, I'm still trying to get hit capped, and after looking through some gear choices, I've made a list of things to get in my raiding adventures, but outside of raids, what else can i get? I'm assuming gems, but i don't really know which ones i should replace and which i should keep. Seeing as all of you seem to very knowledgeable on the class that is hunter, I figured this would be the perfect place to ask. Any advice would help. Thank you.

*EDIT*
See sig for armory

All raid bosses from prince to illidan are level 73, meaning no matter which raid you're in, you need the same amount of hit. Hit is the single best way to increase your dps until you're capped.

There's a sticky at the top of the forum written by Aethien that shows you what you can get and where. There's a bunch of hit rating gear included on that list. I don't mean to be short with you, but that list spells it out better than I can.

Well, it's like this. "Top DPS" isn't ever "a MUST" unless you want to either see how good you can be, or if someone or something else, such as your raid leader or your Guild, is holding you to a higher standard than you're willing to hold for yourself.
You want Hit Rating up to the cap so you can do more DPS. Just like you want to use the best arrows you can afford and equip the best ranged weapon you have access to. Considering Hit Rating as something casual that you can work on later is just like considering AP as something casual that you can work on later.
Point for point, it's your best way to improve your character. Ignore it at peril to your character's development.

I hate to be a pedant, but it's Attumen and the Chess event. You noticed the large chess board, I'll assume?
Maybe your Guild can carry you along. And maybe they don't mind doing so. But at some point they may start to care. You'd be better prepared for that eventuality if you worked on developing your character as best you were able.

Some people call it a chest even since all the gear comes out of a chest.

We call it a chest even because it makes the guild leader's girlfriend/our offtank giggle.

Lmao, Kara is serious business !!!! Kompera, Rofl, pms much? over karazhan?

As a hunter in Karazhan, just spec 0/30/31 MM / Surv , and grab the 3% to hit (this build does work for kara) However, if do have a nice heap of hit in Kara, Go BM.

if you have PvE gear, you should have a heap of hit

if you are busting a 32% crit rating, and are in your S1/S3, then 30/31 helps alot

I realise 30/31 is rarely -ever- used, and may not be as good as full MM, but well, try it, its actually pretty fun
