Never notice Nightfall, no!Follow

I'm not sure if its Bongos2 or CTmod that I'm using for my buffbar right now, but either way I made it nice and small and put it in the corner by my minimap. I like it. I can get the info when I want it and it doesn't interfer with my view. However, I am constantly missing out of Nightfall when it procs. I would be interested to hear how other people deal with this problem.

I really want to avoid making my buffs large and obtrusive, I like a nice clean UI. In my perfect world, when Nightfall procs, a symbol would appear just above my casting bar, which is located just above my action bars at the bottom of my screen. Is there a mod that specifically deals with Nightfall without a lot of other crap thrown in?

Not that I know of, though I'm sure they're out there. Necrosis has a nightfall/backlash proc animation and sound that helps me not miss them. You can even put in your own sounds if you don't like theirs.

Since 2.4, Necrosis is working fine, except for the Nightfall sound. However, turning on the inbuilt combat text makes a big green <Shadow Trance> float across your toon when it procs.

Someone rebuilt it in 2.4, I'll try to dig up the link. But the version I have the sound works fine.

try Elkano's Buffbar. setup a seperate buff bar for procs and have it large, makes seeing procs/trinket stacks/debuffs easy to record and keep track of

Thanks for the feedback, I'll check out Necrosis and Elkano's after work and let everyone know what I find, in case there are some lurkers with the problem!

The nice thing about necrosis is it handles buffs/demons/curses/deletes extra shards/moves shards to whatever bag you want them in. It's kind of the warlock multi-tool.

Yeah, Necrosis works. The problem I have with Nightfall is that by the time it procs, most mobs are already too close to death to cast a bolt (even an instant one would be a waste).

I use Parrot (scrolling combat text) and have all buff/debuff gains flash *huge* across my screen. I mean huge, I think it would be size 48 font. Takes a few days of play to really get used to, but once you do it's a godsend.

There's a stripped down version of Necrosis with just the sound-playing parts out there called InstaBolt which I used until recently. The great thing is with the stripped-down one is that the sound files are so easy to find you can replace them =D

Here's the updated version of Instabolt.

The border of your screen flashes with the color of your choice and it has an optional audio alert.

I haven't tried the updated version yet as I have been out of the game for a few weeks but it should be the same as the old one.

Necrosis is the answer, for sure.

I don't use it as Demon, no real point, but when I was Aff, hearing that Warlock-y voice say "Shadow Trance" was great.

Again, thanks for all the feedback! It's really great how the community of Allakhazam always seems to deliver.

While Necrosis sounds like a great way to be aware of a Nightfall proc, I decided it would not work for me. Very often I have music on or my fiance is watching TV, so I really need visual notice.

The Elkano's BuffBars is perfect for my needs. I was able to set up a seperate buff bar with *only* Shadow Trance white-listed. Now every time Nightfall pops I have a nice big icon just above my casting bar!

If anyone decides to try this, please know that buffs are NOT SELECTABLE UNTIL THEY HAVE BEEN CAST (or proc) AT LEAST ONCE!

Necrosis has an icon for nighfall as well as fear immune mobs, demons and elementals. It's a round icon that you can move and adjust in size.

Also, Instabolt has the screenflash.

I use both Necrosis and Instabolt for my lock and I play with the sound off. IMO the Instabolt visual is much more noticeable then the Necrosis icon.

If all you want is a visual I suggest at least trying Instabolt.

bongaru explained elk's buffbar pretty damn well. it is completely modifiable and yes, sadly you need the buff/debuff/proc/ability etc... to have occured once before it'll appear in the available list.

one way around this though is to create a bar dedicated to buffs under X duration. personnally I've set up 1 bar to watch shadow vunrability (ISB) charges + duration. 1 for all buffs over a 30second duration (basically all normal raid buffs). then the other is set for stuff like trinkets, procs, trinket stacks, spell debuffs/buffs from bosses that i need to watch out for (gruul, solarian, boss stuns/fear etc...).
if you want to you can also set it up to watch your dots/debuffs etc...
