I love it. I simply cannot get enough of it. As I posted in the accomplishment thread the other day, my paladin dinged level 70 at approximate 2 am on April 26. I had about 5 pieces of gear waiting for him and when I dinged 70 I was already uncrittable with about 11.5k HP and over 60% passive avoidance.

Since then I have tanked everything I could get a group for. I even got dragged into a heroic Slave Pens by a desperate group and the run went fine without a single death.

The only problem I'm having is I'm simply addicted to tanking with my pally. I love the rush of having entire groups of mobs beating on me at one time with just some guy I don't know throwing heals on me to keep me alive.

I think what got me hooked was a Shattered Halls run the other day. We got to that point towards the end where there are the gladiators on the sides fighting and the groups of 5-6 mobs in the middle of the walkway. Well at one point we pulled one of the side groups and out hunter's pet pulled the next group of 6 mobs as well. I threw out a taunt on the hunter's pet and laid down and fresh consecrate and tanked all 9-11 mobs at once. I actually think our healer had a heart attack when he saw 11 mobs on me, but he managed to keep me alive and nobody died.

Maybe I have been blessed with better than average PUGs so far. Maybe pally tanking in 5-mans really is just easy-mode. I really can't say.

What I can say is, "I can't stop doing it!!!".

It's even funnier if you're a female. As a BE I look like this dainty little valley girl and I'm having these huge fel orcs pounding on me and not doing a thing.

Tanking is addictive, I finally learned to tank recently and basically never do 5 mans as holy anymore (even though i'll have to spec back to holy to raid!)

Gnome tanks are more awesome...you reach up to the average mob's knee (at most) and a whole bunch of "big bad monsters" are beating you up, yet it does not do any damage at all. Gnome tanking a giant "boss" mob is awesome.

My paladin is not much one for tanking, since she is only level 29, and I use her only for Battleground Healing (no twinking here...I'm a cheap *******). My brother's got a tankadin, though. It's funny to see how little faith lower-level people seem to have in Paladin tanks (as opposed to Druid or Warrior tanks), but after an instance run, people ARE complimenting him on his awesome tanking ability.

tanking is alot of fun. i've been holy for months and months and months, finally wanted to mix it up, healed kara and collected a tanking set, now im prot in full epics and its awesome.

note on gnome tanking- our guild old MT was a gnome... seeing a gnome charge in at VR is probbaly the funniest thing i've ever seen in wow. i had a screenshot somewhere though i cant find it atm

I got into a very strange Shattered Halls group tonight.

They were almost to the 2nd boss (which I didn't care about I was only there for the trinket Bladefist drops) and the group was 2 shamans, 1 resto 1 ele, both in full PVP gear, a rogue in full PVP gear, and a prot warrior.

Well we all know prot pallies are kind of useless as DPS, and I don't have anywhere near a decent healing set yet to even try and offheal. The prot warrior didn't even have a 2nd weapon so he could go prot DW DPS.

Well no sooner than I ask "who's tanking" then all 3 members other than the warrior say "You are". It made me feel really good to have them want me to tank, even though they were past the part of the instance that pally tanks make trivial.

Sadly, the trinket didn't drop. I did get the Lightsworn Hammer for a healing weapon though!!!

I must whole-heartedly disagree with this blasphemy! I might have agreed, but Gnomes can't be Palys :P

It is funny to see a spec of flesh tanking a big bad boss, but Palys still > Gnomes. 'nuf said.

I dunno. Pallies are really the only class I enjoy tanking with, but male, female, whatever, not much can beat the hilarity of a Gnome tank. Most of the time you can't even see them in a crowd, all you can see is this big gaggle of monsters running around chasing... something.

There's just something inherently Loony-Toonish about it.

I'd say Gnomes as a race are Loony-Toonish in general. All you need is that intro music from the Loony-Toons or Itchy and Scratchy to cap it off. That or go run Gnomer. That music is just as bad =P

Typically that person is me. Screaming and bashing keys in a desperate race to keep you alive. I dont know if I should love or hate paladin tanks, on one hand great for survivability and quick runs. The other hand is me crying "why me" as its a none-stop rollercoaster till we either make it or die.

Lots of fun, yes?

*edit - sorry, may be mistaken for sarcasm, its not - it really can be fun.

I tanked on my warrior when he was leveling from 60-70 and for a little while at 70, but it's not nearly the same thing.

I have already got a huge friends list of people who want me to tank any instance they run. I'm sure there's even more people who have me on their friends list that I didn't add to mine for 1 reason or another.

I think in all the 70 instances I have run so far my groups have wiped 3 times. Twice on Murmur yesterday because I thought I was far enough away to avoid the Sonic Boom and wasn't and once on Kargath Bladefist last night because our shadow priest didn't understand where he was supposed to be positioned and got owned about 10 seconds into the fight.

On that Kargath wipe last night I was the last man standing with Kargath at 5% and 20 adds beating on me. I had about 6k HP and 2k mana. I just kept throwing Holy Shield up and when I got really low I bubbled and healed to full. Now I was just hoping for my ret aura to kill Kargath and make the adds despawn. I whittled him down to about 2% before using LoH and throwing out a downranked consecrate and Holy Shield with the mane it gave me. I finally died with Kargath at about .3-.5% HP. My whole group was cheering me on.

I was kind of upset after the fight when I realized I hadn't used either of my trinkets OR Avenging Wrath...
