Hi all, I've been playing with lock for a while now, always pretty casual about it, telling myself it's ok to not top dam meter when I have to CC 2-3 mobs most pulls :D But I have decided to start paying attention to my gears and mechanics to push myself to the next level. I have some questions for the experienced guys here:

1. I am currently wearing S3 at head and leg, I only have access to pvp or heroic or kara gears, should I replace them with spellstrike set? or they are pretty much equal?

on the same note, within this range of gear available, are pvp gears better than drops? Consider UA spc

2. I read for affliction locks hit > damage > crt > sta, I wonder if after 202 hit and 20% crt, should I just focus on boosting my +damage up as high as possible?

also where does haste factor in? I read it somewhere that it needs almost 800 haste rating to drop GCD to 1sec or something, is it even worth it to try to reach it ?

3. During raid or instances, when do you guys usually use soul shattered? I set my omen warning at 95% but sometimes a few proc of SB and dots went off at same time easily pulled it before I can soul shatter it, also I am worry about the CD on it too, always debate should I use it now or later...any input on the timing of it would be great :)

Thanks alot

1. Spellstrike gear is far better than S3 for PvE.
Drops with Spell Hit on them are better than PvP gear without hit, and ones without hit are worse than PvP ones without hit, as a general rule. PvP Shoulders with Spell Hit on them are great =D

2. After 202 Hit and 20% Crit, keep boosting your Damage until about 1050, at which point you can go D-SAC/DESTRO if you want.

Haste is good, probably between Crit and STA as an Afflock and maybe equal to Damage as a Destrolock.

3. Soulshatter early in boss fights, probably around at around 80% of the tanks threat. The cooldown isn't too prohibitive, in longer fights like Nightbane you'll be able to do it twice if you pop it early.
