I forgot to take a screenshot of him dead. :(

Allow me to take this time to say that trying to solo a boss that does elemental damage and mana burns as a paladin is really really, um, annoying. Dropped under 1k hp several times, fight took about an hour total, video is of just the last like 5% hp

Truly ridiculous amounts, evidently.

Imagine what you'll be doing at 80.

Grats :) Soloing bosses is great fun :)

And while we're on Zul'Gurub, is the leg enchant still viable at 70? I have a LW patch on for 10 stam (need to farm a bit to get the spellthread), but 10 def rating would allow me to regem for more stam.

Cheers :)

Nice one. I'm thinking of trying this with my druid at some point.

Did you find you needed to heal much? I have the option of bringing a healer with me, but I'm a bit concerned with the knockbacks (and didn't realise he mana burned).

Would resist gear be helpful? I'll check wowwiki for this, but you get more of a feel for this if you have tanked the fight yourself I think.

Lastly, do you think that's the best place to tank him? I was planning just to keep him down in the water so I didn't need to clear too much for it.

Hoping to get the poly book for my mage and solo is easier than having to drag friends along.

That leg enchant isn't really viable at all, Leatherworkers can make Clefthide Leg Armour and Nethercleft Leg Armour which are by far the best tanking enchants for leg slots.

I can solo both the fish boss and the panther boss. I don't know how much more a pally is likely to be able to solo. I've heard of warriors being able to do tiger and raptor, as well as druids being able to do the snake boss, but that's it.

I had to heal a lot. By a rough estimate I was taking around 7k damage every 4 minutes (at which point I would pop a mana potion, bubble, and heal) It was very noticable damage.

Running with resist gear may be helpful, but with resist gear you sacrifice a lot of other stats. I went for passive uncrushability first and then a high block value to minimize incoming damage, and hits hits still routinely were for 800+ (though I would block over 700) I did use frost resist aura (70 resist) and got a few resists but not enough to warrent taking more physical damage. I honestly don't know how it would go for a druid/warrior because you guys work off rage, not mana (and he doesn't burn rage)

The place I tanked him I know is the best place for soloing, because his geyser will never throw you high enough to cause falling damage. You can try in the water if you want but if you have to clear to fight down there, then you've done more fighting than I did. I killed no mobs besides the boss. You can avoid the pats during the pull, but be careful because the boss is leashed like an ourdoor mob, so you need to keep doing occasional attacks to him while you pull.

The ZG enchant can be put on head items too.

Cheers for the info, I might try and rope my bf into helping me. he can tank on his warrior (I found out that my tanking druid isn't high enough in fishing to get mudskunks) while I dps on my mage and heal on my druid.

Head enchants come from the KoT rep vendor. 16 def, 17 dodge vs. 10 Def, 10 stam? Hmmmm...
