On the other hand, I know the feeling - I have done 11 runs so far and have not even seen the trinket. If it drops now and somebody else wins it I will probably bang my head against a wall or something.

if i were you, i'd get upset i lost the roll also, but truth of the matter is that a fury warrior will have a very hard time getting a spot in a heroic mgt group... i would know, since i'm fury for raids and spec prot to farm badges, gear and to fill tanking gaps. whenever one of my guild's fury warriors asks to get a spot in a heroic mgt group, i say "i need rogue/mage/lock or hunter to cc the 3rd boss, not taking anyone else). i've tried taking the third boss on with just a rogue and mage for cc and a fury warrior in full s3 and wiped for an hour or so. so ya... he's well within his rights if he's really fury for raids, as there's no way in hell even i would take a fury warrior in there.

additionally, shard of contempt is also one of the best trinkets a fury warrior can get aside from berserker's call off zul'jin or madness of the betrayer in BT. i rolled against an enhancement shammy specced resto for the heroic and won it, where i had rolled against a rogue for it and lost before.

If you are trying to PUG as TANK, you must give loot chance to other DPS even you are fury in your own guild raid, it is that simple. Unless you are doing it as guild run, everyone know it and give you the loot, otherwise you loot DPS items you are considered ninja. Same thing, for example, when you PUG as holy priest, and you ninja the caster DPS trinket, saying that you raid as shadow priest, do you think the warlock bother? The warlock also won't care what you were, but at this moment you ARE at your current role which is healer. :)

You see the point right?

A ninja is a thief, who rolls Need when everybody agreed to pass on the item first. If he rolls with other needers on an off-spec item he is probably an @#%^, but would not be called a Ninja on my server.
Anyhow, this may be the best rogue trinket, but it is also a pretty good tanking one, as I wrote already. The argument that something is best for you is not something you can rely on in a PUG.
(you can find the trinket listed in section X.d, and general expertise for tanks explained in VII.a, in http://elitistjerks.com/f31/t18771-protection_warrior_guide)

If I ever decide that this trinket is what my tank needs (this is only theoretical example at this point, as he is not yet that advanced), and go to the instance for it, I am certainly not going to pass just because someone else needs it too. I could do that in a group of friends, but not in a PUG.

Btw, the trinket dropped for me on 15th run. The tank hesitated a bit, but passed eventually. So I don't have to hurt myself banging into a wall...
Allelujah.

well, the way i do it is to announce at the beginning of the run: "i'm fury spec for raids and i'm here for the shard of contempt, so if it's ok with you guys i'll be rolling on that also. if i happen to win the roll, i'll gladly come back and run it again with you, just let me know". other dps interested in the trinket: "ok, may the best man win"

it worked with the rogue who won it, he came back for my next run that i got it on and rolled against a main spec enh shaman specced resto, who i ran it with again a couple more times until it dropped for him.

sorry, i'm still not a ninja.

If he raids as Fury and he's tanking your run, he's quite possibly doing a job (tank) that he doesn't like so that your party can get through. If he's prot at the time, he spent 100g to do the job better, and probably maintained a 2nd gearset ...

Yup, you're right. No way at all that he should be able to roll on a piece that helps him with raiding.

Granted, he should have warned you before the run, but it's not as simple as you make out.

QFT.

though i'm raid-specced fury, my dps set and my tanking set are all about T5.5 quality, and i never would have gotten it all to the level it's at without tanking 99.5% of pug heroics i have ever been in (yes, i did get to dps every now and then).

I agree, if he did say upfront before the run, I may still continue and pray for the luck, or just find another group, instead of ranting & unhappy about that.

Anyway, I guess I just live with it, [wowitem=28579]Romulo's Poison Vial[/wowitem] is not too bad :( I can only tell myself that.

I can't believe people would do that. Someone who actually needs it gets screwed cause of a dumb freakin mage who wanted to shard it. GRRR makes me mad thinking about it. Figured greed before need is the rule most stick to. But there are those out there that don't give a F@%& and they should burn....
