I recently got me a Shortsword of Vengeance(http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=754;source=live) on Skullcrusher for 21g. i haven't gotten round of using it because i'm still only level 38. My question is: does the holy damage increase with Judgement of the Crusader? if it doesn't i'll probably sell it again.

JotC will increase the damage of the proc.
I buy gear.Whats wrong with that.Paladins are gear dependant.And the gear you quest at lower levels really sucks.
You will throw that sword away in 3 days if you are a consistent lvler. Theres no need to buy gear from 1-57. At 58 you might buy peices to offset what rewards you didnt get when you first started out in Outlands.
Don't buy gear unless it's underpriced (use Auctioneer), or you plan to DE it for profit (Enchantrix) ;)
